“I said, I'm never sure which box to tick. And he said, tick them all. And the truth is actually this quite good British attitude to have. Identity is multifaceted. I've never thought of the need to choose. But the problem is I've got my wife's from Brazil, two Brazilian boys at home.”

There is consistent agreement amongst Conservatives because of our manifesto that we must leave the customs union. And there are policy arguments for that.”
“One of the biggest supporters as well, but I'm not, you know, when I came into the House of Commons, I think we all have this as politicians, certainly my first term. I think a lot of us and a lot of new and younger MPs want to reconcile, you want to be a good team player. Equally, you want to be a conviction politician.”
“For example, in the implementation period, we're clearly going to have to be close to some of the existing EU rules. So whilst we come out of the EU formally in March next year, we're going to be still tied for the implementation period to some of those single market rules in order to bridge.”
