“He's a good friend. He was in my wedding. We've had a long relationship together. We can finish each other's sentences. We're just very good friends, much more than politics. But I wanted to get in politics, and he was a state representative in the far northwest part of Missouri and a state senate seat opened up.”

“Well, at that time when they would beat into our head, we were to train on a howitzer. Essentially, if they decide to attack, you don't. And they talk about the minutes that you have. We'd the word fire drills. I can't remember they called them something more interesting than that, where we had a minute and a half to get to our guns.”
