“We had our most recent meeting of the Bilateral Commission, which is this mechanism to manage all of the various initiatives underway. We've set up, I would say, a very aggressive agenda for the remaining part of the administration. We'll meet a couple more times.”
“Sure, I mean, we can go over history. I would say there were many mistakes made on both sides. But I honestly think the important thing now is to look forward. President came, I think, which is a very strong testament to the importance of this normalization process and moving it forward.”
“Right. I was just going to say the Cold War is over the agenda for the hemisphere, our agenda in the hemisphere was being disrupted. So I think the steps we've taken has also contributed to more of a unity of the Americas and the hemisphere. There are many challenges in the hemisphere, I don't mean to say everything is terrific.”
“Well, the president has called for the embargo to be lifted. We've seen a number of new bills and things introduced along those lines, again going back to the initial idea of engagement, expanding people-to-people, expanding flow of information and expanding commercial contact, this fits in very much with that to provide opportunities her…”
