“They decided to move to North Central Montana. My grandfather came out on the railroad. You know, Hill was pushing folks in the homesteader era to overselling the area. But the truth is it's worked out pretty well for us. And Grandpa came out. It was obviously a wet year in 1910.”
“Yeah, absolutely was. And, you know, they say there's more races lost than are won here in Washington, D.C. And I think that in some respects, Conrad was his own worst enemy because of some of the stuff that had transpired. But I will say this, of all the people I ran against, Conrad was a class act.”
“Well, it doesn't bode well. I mean, we have to get back to a point where work is being done in the middle, in a bipartisan way. And I think anytime people get further and further out to the fringe. It really does put up obstacles to working together. And I think that's where we're headed.”
“And Charlotte, I took it over in 78. It supported two families most of its lifetime. And as you pointed out, when my folks retired, there was about 1,100 acres a little bit more. And we've added to that, so we're about 1,800 right now. But the truth is that it's been something that's been a part of me.”
