The Operator

Execution, delivery and performance, gets the hard thing done.

Kevin Durant is The Operator, a leader who treats performance as an engineering problem. He returns again and again to routine, film study, shot mechanics, and role clarity as the true levers of winning.

IN THEIR WORDS, WHY OPERATOR

I like how sharp I kept all my moves. I didn't play around with the ball. I was mentally focused each possession. We went down eighteen early and I just stayed patient — I knew if I lock in and do what I need to do, I can have a game like that.

REFLECTING ON PLAYOFF GAME 5 PERFORMANCE

I always wanted to be able to score in different ways — transition, pick and roll, iso. Once I mastered that, I learned how to incorporate everybody on the floor into what I was doing. I had to round out my game mentally and physically.

ON BECOMING A VERSATILE NBA PLAYER

When you figure out your routine, that's the easy part. You can do something like that every day and know you can produce good results. That's when you start getting better.
