Michael Finley is The Architect because his leadership has always favoured construction over recognition. He describes his Dallas playing years as building a dream house he could not live in, a custodial view of legacy few stars articulate.
“And from my understanding, the producing team was already in the New York area that week when the casting director had watched my video. And so they kind of set it all up. They said, you know what, we'll come and they came and they saw me perform in Les Miz. And then the next morning we had like a callback in New York.”
“But I think in a lot of ways it's mostly good spirited, and certainly my friends in Utah have taken it the best way they possibly can. And there's a lot of the musical to love. You know, there's certainly a few things that go over the top. But it was a blast knowing that I was going to spend a few weeks in Utah.”
“That's a great question. Thanks for asking. If I can remember correctly, I really do have to rack my brain because it's been almost 10 years since that process started for me. I had just moved to New York City with my wife, now my wife, a girlfriend at the time. We were trying to make our dream work. And I had booked Les Miserab.”
“Christian, I know that there are hymns that aren't Southern Baptists. There are Methodist hymns. There are Pentecostal hymns. There are Baptist hymns. There are Catholic hymns. And so I think I would just assume that that was some other denomination that had a different kind of hymn. Yeah.”
