The Visionary
The future, and what is barely possible, reads round the next corner.
Michio Kaku reads as The Visionary because his entire vocation, theoretical physicist and futurist, is the discipline of thinking beyond the visible horizon. On The Diary of a CEO he demonstrated the archetype in action, translating frontier science into vivid pictures of where humanity could go next.
“Well, I was in the United States Army for two years. And at that point I had to face death, and I had to face war. It was the height of the Vietnam War there were five hundred GIs dying every week, every week.”
“If I were to take a guess, I would say that it's an entrance. It's a gateway, perhaps to another universe. We think, for example, if I have a warp space and you fall into warp space, if the warp space is powerful enough, it may come out again on the other side. So there may be another universe on the other side of a black hole.”
“Well, I think we'll probably be on the moon, maybe untom Mars, and perhaps even Jimaba setting the first space probes even beyond that. We're talking about being able to use artificial intelligence to send probes out there. Of course, we're not going to go to the stars. That's a few hundred years into the future.”
“Right, then the question is are there other stars, yes, other galaxies? There are billions and billions of planets out there. We think that the whole shebang is curved, or nothing but inhabitants on the skin of this gigantic bubble. Now we're saying that maybe there are other bubbles out there.”
