The Pioneer
The frontier and an appetite for the unknown, goes first.
Nic Cary presents as a textbook Pioneer, having co-founded Blockchain.com in 2011 in York, England, at a time when, as he acknowledges, peers warned it would be career suicide.
“And I think a lot of people that originally started out in digital currency and specifically with Bitcoin came to it via an appreciation for hard assets and sound money. So gold holds a special place in my heart due to its physical properties, its use as a form of money and a store of value.”
“They asked Western governments for support for munitions, for security agreements. And one of the things they also did was ask for economic donations.”
“So it's more focused in what's called scope two emissions. Like electric cars. And what's interesting is that the network that supports Bitcoin basically uses all of these computers all over the world to maintain the integrity of the network. That network now holds over a trillion dollars of value.”
“And when you have a system that can do something like that, you can pioneer all kinds of different features and all kinds of different concepts on it. One of those concepts would be peer-to-peer electronic cash. Would be decentralized applications, meaning software systems that can basically run on a decentralized network.”
