“We took a view that we would get married, and then as soon as that election was done, we started booking the venues and everything else. And then we realized, of course, that you have to send out save the date cards. And at that point, we took the view that we needed to have what we call privately the great unveiling.”
“As you hinted at earlier, I didn't when I first came into Parliament. That wasn't my main issue. I was a child accountant, a tax consultant. I became interested in politics as a young person because of economic issues about how our country's economy was run. I felt very strongly that the free market was the right approach.”
“Back now, my husband, and the fact that for most of those 36 years until we married in 2015, our relationship was very private. That means that you don't go to dinner parties. And actually in politics, socializing, getting to know one another, prime ministers getting to know you. That is an important part of the political process.”
“Had this levelled again, this accusation is made. It wasn't easy implementing the phonics policy. We put in a test for six-year-old. That was criticized for a whole raft of professors from universities who say the very thing that you have quoted, that it's grad grind and it's boring. It isn't boring for the children.”
