ARCHETYPE

The Navigator

Judgement in the fog, money, risk and the call others cannot make.

Peja Stojakovic is The Navigator because displacement never cost him direction. Through war, language barriers, team dismantlement, and a career-ending injury, he kept reorienting without losing forward momentum. He read Sacramento's offensive evolution, Dallas's championship window, even his own son's development, and adapted his role to each.

IN THEIR WORDS, WHY NAVIGATOR

Pressure is when the owner of the team comes to the locker room before the game and says, if you guys lose, you're not getting paid. That's pressure.

REFRAMING NBA PRESSURE VS. EUROPE

I always say the work equal confidence, confidence equal performance. It doesn't matter, you can be nervous, but the work will take all the nerves away.

ADVICE TO HIS SON ON PRESSURE

We learned that making a sacrifice for your teammate as far as making a hard cut is not going to make you always open, but it's gonna make somebody else open. This became contagious.
