The Visionary
The future, and what is barely possible, reads round the next corner.
Santiago Iñiguez de Onzoño speaks throughout this interview as a Visionary whose leadership is defined by a long-horizon commitment to reimagining education as a transformative social force. He recounts pioneering hybrid learning at IE more than 22 years before it became mainstream, arguing consistently that technology humanizes rather than diminishes education.
“In the end, you know, a law report, Allah decision needs to have that human component. And the same is applicable to the rest of the professional services.”
“On the side of professionals and managers, experienced managers, of course one of the phenomena which is impacting our jobs is AI, artificial intelligence. It's actually transforming many different tasks, a professional services, at companies at large, but also in education.”
“Indeed. Well, first, you have to become aware of how to optimize the use of AI. Second, cultivate the humanities and continue your education and lifelong learning. But the fact is that I believe that AI is going to ease lots of tasks, but it's not going to replace the basic work of a manager or of any other value profession.”
“Absolutely. But I recall that a very distinguished professor of organizational behavior was a psychologist, a PhD in psychology. Also told me once that very few people receive negative feedback with a positive attitude. It's very difficult to recognize as you. Explain well, to recognize and accept criticism.”
