“And rolling down again. Totally, because I was paid $12,000 a year, it was this sort of nothing job, but I was lucky to get it. I had been sending out tapes for six months and never hearing a word. I was thrilled to have that job. And now that was my big chance. And then also it was embarrassing to turn around and come right back home.”
“And this is really weird, but I got it must have been early in the morning or something. I went out to go get a cup of coffee. I was like on the upper west side in New York. And this has never happened before or since. So take it with the grain. I'm waiting in the line. And all of a sudden, I just had this feeling come over me.”
“Lots of us reporters are always complaining, and you know, we think this or that is a drag. So I definitely had, I think I was a little, kind of had a bad attitude. In a way, I was just getting kind of over it. There was that. And then the fourth thing was I knew it was really time for me to try to get a job in a bigger market.”
“Okay, I'm like, oh, fascinating. No, I was born in Australia because my father was in the mining business. And he, at that point in the early 70s, had been transferred there to work for a company. So we just, our family lived there for about two years, and I happened to be born during that time.”
