“Actually, I was talking about days of education, and at the time, people were talking about multiculturalism in a very different way to talk to you now because I remember having a conversation with a Ruster man I know, and he's very political.”
“I'd ask people listening to this, have you been in a tow block? Have you lived that life? And I go back to my point of you come into public life and you have a particular thing. You might be into defence or foreign policy or, I don't know, buses. I'm into people. I carry my conservative tag lightly.”
“But they may well be doing, they may well be doing. But the point is, it's on both sides of the benches. What I've noticed recently, it's very popular to have a poor background. If someone asked me if I wanted my children to have a poor background, the first and only answer is no. But I happen to come from one.”
“So, if I'm going to talk about Grenfell Tower, I think everybody needs to be careful because of the community that is there now and going through it. Yes, I come from that wider community, but I'm not going through it in the same way that they are.”
