The Architect

Structured and legacy-driven; builds the systems and institutions that last.

Sir Nigel Wilson presents as a quintessential Architect, systematically redesigning Legal and General from a traditional life and pensions insurer into a large-scale asset originator and manager built around long-term structural themes.

IN THEIR WORDS, WHY ARCHITECT

I think I've got great colleagues. That's what makes the difference. We have a great culture around that. We're solving problems that excite me. It's something that I've, since I was a young person, been challenged by. How do you really make a difference?

Nobody else does that, if I'm to say, tell me another house builder who actually puts together affordable build-to-rent urban, suburban, modular construction, later life living, as well as builder sell, and is happy to build all the infrastructure around that. We wanted people to do that, but we failed on that.

MONEY MAZE PODCAST

Onshore and offshore wind business. We have a solar business. We do perovskite, which is a way of making solar panels more efficient. We've got battery storage business. We own 35% of the UK's largest ground source heating business. We're in air source heating. A bit of nuclear fusion as well from some brilliant academics in Oxford.
