Stephen Flynn is the leader of the Scottish National Party, navigating the complexities of Scottish politics during a turbulent time. This interview reveals his commitment to harnessing challenges as opportunities for growth and change, showcasing his energetic and persuasive leadership style.
“Was quite uncomfortable with it, the opulence, you know, there's folk in my constituency saying right across Scotland who've got nothing, can't afford to heat their homes or feed their kids, can't afford baby formulas we've seen in the news over the course of the last few days.”
“I mean, it was taken away from me entirely. I was laid up in bed on traction. I was in and out of hospital. I was doing hyperbaric chambers, oxygen chambers to obviously try and aid their recovery. It was difficult. It was really challenging for me on a personal level.”
“Yeah, and it allowed me to change my outlook on where things were. Maybe not to change it, but perhaps to understand the world better than I ever had before. And it focused my mind on making use of the talents that I had and where my interests lay.”
“Maybe all of those things at different moments. We've kind of had to take it on the chin. And, you know, certainly for myself, I've had to answer a lot of questions in relation to things that I don't really know a lot about.”
