“Mr. Speaker, the opposition should stop the conspiracy theories. They should get out more, stop saying no and find out who is saying yes to Canada. They do not even have to go far. Just this morning, I was in Kanata where Nokia said yes to Canada and the Ottawa-Gatineau area. They broke ground on a $340-million innovation centre. They employ 2,600 Canadians. They will employ 340 more. The opposition should do what Nokia does: build in Canada, buy in Canada, believe in Canada.”

Maybe it is just because they want us to be distracted from what they also opposed; on Monday they opposed LNG Canada phase two in British Columbia, the new Darlington nuclear project in Bowmanville, 18,000 construction jobs, and the Red Chris mine expansion in northwest British Columbia. The real question is, what does the opposition support?”

[ English ] The Prime Minister brought back an extraordinary deal: $1 billion for our critical minerals sector. Let us think about that. There is $70 billion in investment to build Canadian infrastructure and good jobs here in Canada. That goes along with our plan to build affordable homes and invest in our defence sector. I do not know why the opposition cannot take “yes” for an answer.”

The Prime Minister was in the U.A.E. and its leadership said yes to Canada, investing $1 billion in our critical minerals sector, with $70 billion of investment coming to Canada. In fact, the Premier of Saskatchewan, Scott Moe, supports this. Scott Moe said, “we welcome Prime Minister Carney's efforts to raise Canada's credibility in the international sphere”. It is time for the opposition to join us and build Canada.”

It turns out that our plan is an excellent cure for the opposition's fear of building.”

“Mr. Speaker, while the opposition members are busy talking down the economy, we are building it up. Maybe they are too busy to know that what went down is inflation. We are investing in builders and entrepreneurs. I was at the OneEleven innovation zone in Toronto. Young entrepreneurs were thankful that this budget will make it easier to hire Canadians and invest in Canada. Do not take my word for it; listen to the Council of Canadian Innovators, which says that our budget is listening to innovators. I hope the opposition listens as well and does what Canadians want: build in Canada, buy in Canada and believe in Canada. It should support the budget.”
“Mr. Speaker, here is something to applaud about. We created 67,000 new jobs last month. That is right. This is about building an affordable nation for a nation of builders. This budget does just that. We are building affordable housing for young people. We are creating 100,000 new summer jobs. We are investing in the tech sector. At 800,000 workers, it is the fastest-growing job sector in the economy, with many for young people. I hope the Conservatives, and many of them do, support this budget.”

Southern Ontario, as we all know, has been among the hardest hit by tariffs, home to the steel and auto industries and industries that employ more than eight million workers. This summer, I spoke with businesses such as Laval Tool in Windsor and organizations such as Niagara Economic Development, which told us how much they value FedDev's work and its investment in innovation and creating new jobs.
