“Mr. Speaker, I rise today to honour the lives lost in the devastating attack at the Lapu-Lapu Day festival just six weeks ago in my riding of Vancouver Kingsway. Eleven innocent people were taken from us by the horrific act of violence that occurred as Filipino Canadians gathered to proudly celebrate their history, culture and achievements. To the loved ones of the victims, all who were affected and the entire Filipino Canadian community, our nation stands with them in this time of unspeakable grief and sorrow. Much has been said about the profound resilience and faith of the Filipino people. While that is truly the case, we must ensure that they get the resources and justice they need and deserve.”
