“Pourtant, votre famille politique, au niveau de l’Union européenne comme dans les États membres, ne cesse de tirer à boulets rouges sur toutes les agences qui sont en mesure de fournir ces études scientifiques indépendantes. Pour vous donner un exemple: en France, nous avons une institution qui s’occupe des pesticides et qui fournit des études, lesquelles, pourtant, sont cachées. Elles sont enterrées par les gouvernements, qui n’en font rien. Au niveau de l’Union européenne, nous avons des institutions, des agences communautaires qui sont censées s’occuper de façon indépendante des effets de certains produits sur la santé, et qui cependant s’appuient sur des données produites par qui? Non pas par des institutions indépendantes, mais par les entreprises de pesticides elles-mêmes!”
“To je právě ten příklad, kdy my přestáváme věřit v evropskou demokracii. Nemůžeme si zde prostě zadávat studie organizacím, které jsou s námi spřátelené. My potřebujeme nezávislou evropskou instituci, která posoudí ty návrhy a řekne nám, je to tak nebo tak. A já si myslím, že bylo skandální toto dlouhodobě přehlížet. “Paní předsedající, vážený pane komisaři, dámy a pánové, nikdo neříká, že neziskové organizace kradou nebo že neziskové organizace nemají být součástí legislativního procesu. Ale dělejme to transparentně. Nedělejme to tak, že někdo z peněz daňových poplatníků v Evropské komisi si zadá studii, která potvrzuje jeho názor. Udělejme to tak, abychom se opravdu na ta data mohli spolehnout. Já jsem Franse Timmermanse opakovaně vyzýval nejenom tady na plénu – Danieli, můžeš si to všechno nahrát a můžeš se na to podívat –, aby dodal studie k některým svým zeleným politikám. Vždy říkal, že ty studie existují. Já jsem ty studie nikdy neviděl. On ty studie nikdy nedodal. Anebo mi pak třeba dodal materiál, když jsem se ho ptal na vliv olova, které je v patronách, na životní prostředí, tak mi dodal studii, kterou napsala organizace BirdLife.”
