Today, what we know as the so-called trickle-down effect – that you have to support the big ones, the strong ones, the rich ones, and then their wealth will trickle down to the everyday people – that's not true anymore. That was the biggest illusion of neoliberalism and the conservative parties. As I see on the right and the EPP, they still live in this illusion. But, friends, that's not true anymore. Decent wealth is not created by hard work, but by wealth itself. So poverty is a reality for hard-working European citizens every day in Europe. And the market will not solve it.”

“Úgyhogy feltehetjük a kérdést: de sikerült? És az a válaszom, hogy nem. Totális kudarc, totális kudarc. 15 évvel ezelőtt Magyarország Kelet-Közép-Európa egyik legmenőbb országa volt. Ma Európa legszegényebb országává váltunk, és ennek mind ez a jobboldali gazdaság- és társadalompolitika az oka. Éppen ezért én azt javasolnám az Európai Parlamentnek, hogy a holnapi napon kövessék a baloldal útját, a baloldal javaslatait: tisztességes fizetések, nyugdíjak, lakásépítés, egészségügy, oktatás. Ezek teszik versenyképessé az európai embereket. A nagyvállalatok helyett álljunk az emberek oldalára! 2-0331-0000”
