“The EU should denounce Netanyahu and his ministers as war criminals, which they are, now, or bear the mark of Cain of utter hypocrisy. 3-0239-0000”
“Mr President, dear Christian Democrats, dear Christian patriots, dear leaders of the EU, you are hypocrites. And you will probably end in hell. It is the Vatican, not me, who is saying: 'If a country is an enemy, it is condemned as undemocratic and sanctioned in various ways; but if it is an ally, the fact that it lacks freedom of expression, human rights or democracy is ignored.' The EU chose as an ally the genocidal regime of Netanyahu. By doing that, we alienated the majority of Global South, including the Arab world, and lost any credibility regarding international law. Please note that I don't speak about Israel or about the Jews. It is not about a country, and it is not at all about race. It is about a genocidal regime.”
“Mr President, dear Commissioner, in the ASEAN Delegation of the European Parliament, we discussed the issue of cyber scamming in Myanmar. There are non-state actors, mafias, who run basically slave factories on cyber scams, targeting people all around the world, including in Europe. So I spoke to diplomats from the region and received very positive replies from China, Cambodia and Myanmar itself, which now has a stable government, and they are genuinely willing to work on this issue with us. But the Commission told us we will not cooperate, we will not even speak to Myanmar because they are not a democratically elected government. So I ask you, is it better to do virtue signalling and let a grand mass in Europe get scammed? Or is it better to work together on resolving this important problem? 2-0360-0000”
“Paní předsedající, vážený pane komisaři, z debaty o autech se nám vytrácí to nejdůležitější – zájem zákazníků, běžných motoristů, kteří potřebují levné a dobré auto.
“Madam President, dear colleagues, let's summarise the facts: it is the United States who is starting wars and brewing mischief in the Middle East, from the Iraq War started under false pretences to the Iran war started by Netanyahu and Trump. It is Israel and the United States who commit genocide and war crimes in Gaza, in Lebanon, in Iran. It is Europe who is paying the price with increased costs of oil, gas and fertilisers. And it is Europe who is suffering from migration waves from these conflicts. My question, Madam High Representative, should we now reward the Israelis with continued cooperation and reward the Americans with a very nice vassal trade deal? Or should we rather speak and trade with decent states from the rest of the world who never attack anyone, who offer much better markets and who uphold United Nations principles?”
Dejte peníze do veřejné infrastruktury, do energetiky, do přenosových sítí, do technického školství, do zdravotní péče o pracující, do digitalizace veřejné správy. Brojme proti clům a sankcím.
“It is absolutely essential to move swiftly. The health package must boost our competitiveness and attract new innovation to our market, and it should shorten the time necessary for new therapies getting to the patients. The health technology assessment must support Member States in taking more-informed reimbursement decisions on new drugs, so that all European patients can access the best new medicines in a more timely and equitable way. More than ever, we need to rapidly conclude these files and implement them properly. Thank you very much for your attention. 1-0204-0000 Preşedinte. – Dezbaterea a fost închisă. Declarații scrise (articolul 178) 1-0204-5000 Romana Jerković (S&D), napisan – Posljednjih godina Europa je naučila važnu lekciju: bez sigurnog pristupa lijekovima nema ni sigurne Europe.”
“It happened already with COVID vaccines, which our Polish friends learned the hard way. I think the idea is good, but needs some serious business planning. 1-0202-0000 (Încheierea intervențiilor la cerere) 1-0203-0000 Olivér Várhelyi, Member of the Commission. – Mr President, honourable Members, the challenges we face are real: geopolitical tensions, fragile supply chains, rising costs and an ageing population that needs more care. I am convinced we have been taking steps in the right direction, and today's debate, I think, confirmed it. The critical medicines act will shore up supply chains, joint procurement will pool our collective strength and strategic manufacturing will bring production back to Europe. The pharma package will provide a supportive regulatory environment for both innovative and generic pharmaceutical companies.”
“Mr President, dear colleagues, a few technicalities: since we import 80 % of critical medicines from China and India, we are not a strategic rival, but rather a dependent. Rebuilding our pharma industry will take 5 to 10 years. Until then, we'd better be a good trading partner of China and India. Commissioner, please tell this to Kaja Kallas. Also, the European Union doesn't exactly procure drugs – they are procured in countries like mine by private wholesalers who don't use public procurement and by pharmacies who serve their clients, not EU solidarity. So where exactly is the EU competence in that? Even if the EU somehow procures the drugs, including expensive orphans, how exactly will they make the insurance companies reimburse that? And if the drugs are not reimbursed, what will you do with the stockpile?”
Sócrates bebeu a cicuta.
– Senhor Presidente, a Sra.
“The inconsistent application and subsequent repeal of the amnesty law have failed to secure the release of all political prisoners or provide justice for any of the victims. Venezuela's path to democracy cannot be built on forgetting. Recognition of the victims, reparation and accountability are urgently needed. And more: it's time to honour the will of the people through free, fair and credible elections. The Venezuelans deserve the right to choose their own future. 3-0584-0000 Isabel Serra Sánchez, autora.”
“Let's be clear: the Maduro regime was catastrophic for Venezuela but, at the same time, the US military intervention and abduction and removal of Maduro represent a clear violation of international law. Delcy Rodriguez was installed as the interim authority, and foreign interests – particularly US energy firms – have aggressively expanded their presence in the oil sector. But with little to no improvement on the economic situation for Venezuelans, one has to ask: where is this oil money going? And who, if not the Venezuelan people, will reap the economic benefits of this change? When it comes to human rights, Venezuelans were promised a new chapter, and yet that promise remains unfulfilled.”
3-0583-0000 Catarina Vieira, author. – Mr President, colleagues, this resolution is not just about Venezuela and the Venezuelan people. It's also about defending the principles of rules-based international order that the EU and this Parliament stand for.”
Madam Commissioner, tonight we urge the Commission not to repeat these mistakes. When the High Representative defended lifting the sanctions on Delcy Rodríguez, there was an amnesty law and the promise to release political prisoners. Five days ago, President Rodríguez unilaterally revoked that law.

“We will continue to call for credible information on the whereabouts and well-being of the 11th Panchen Lama. Rest assured that the EU will continue to urge China to take concrete steps to address concerns relating to human rights, cultural, linguistic and religious rights, and respect for international law, including at the highest political level, during EU-China summits, other high-level meetings, and the EU-China Human Rights Dialogue. 3-0570-0000 Le Président. – Le débat est clos. Le vote aura lieu demain.”
“Like relevant UN human rights treaty bodies, the EU will continue to monitor developments closely and raise concerns where necessary, both bilaterally with China and in relevant international fora. When it comes to the succession of the Dalai Lama, the EU remains of the view that the selection of religious leaders should happen without any government interference and in full respect of religious norms. This was also recalled during the 40th EU-China Human Rights Dialogue that was held in Brussels on 13 June 2025. On Tibet, the EU remains gravely concerned by the human rights situation there, including restrictions on freedom of religion or belief, the preservation of cultural identity, and the rights of religious communities to manage their affairs without interference and to freely choose their religious leaders.”
“While one of the stated objectives of the law is that of promoting 'high-quality development' in 'ethnic-minority regions', let me recall that development can only be sustainable and inclusive when it respects the dignity, identity and rights of all people and persons belonging to different communities. Measures that weaken minority languages' use, reduce cultural space, or interfere with freedom of religion or belief risk undermining precisely the diversity they claim to protect. There is also serious concern about the law's potential extraterritorial implications. The EU opposes the extraterritorial application of third-country legislation in breach of international law, and consistently calls on all third countries to refrain from attempts to conduct transnational repression, whether within the EU or elsewhere.”
“China's new law on promoting ethnic unity and progress, which we are discussing today, may further restrict the rights of persons belonging to ethnic, linguistic and religious minorities in China. Such rights should be upheld in line with international human rights standards, and with China's own commitment within the United Nations framework. The Constitution of the People's Republic of China itself provides for equality among ethnic groups and for the protection of minority languages and cultures. The EU will therefore continue to call on China to respect both its international and constitutional commitments.”
“The French constitution excludes minority languages from any official role. Some Corsican or Breton? No, because French did everything to kill these languages. So if you are concerned about regional languages, leave China alone and start right here in Strasbourg, France. 3-0568-0000 (Fin des interventions à la demande) 3-0569-0000 Hadja Lahbib, Member of the Commission. – Mr President, honourable Members, as President von der Leyen mentioned in this House last July, shortly ahead of the last EU-China summit, the EU's relationship with China is one of the most defining and consequential. As part of this relationship, we engage with China, while also putting forward our demands and our concerns, and this applies to the area of human rights.”
“Mr President, I'm a lawyer and I enjoy reading laws. I read this Chinese one. Did you read it? I don't think so. In China, minority languages are protected by constitution. This law cannot and doesn't change it. It stipulates a learning of minority languages and their use in public alongside in Mandarin and promotes ethnic regional autonomy. The new law does promote that every Chinese can speak Mandarin – a common national language. But this is a quite normal thing which many states do. After these decades in China, most Tibetans don't even speak Mandarin. The vast majority of Mongolians use Mongolian every day. Now compare with, say, France. We sit in Alsace, in Strasbourg. Three generations ago, 70 % of people around Strasbourg spoke Alsatian. Now, 120. How is it possible?”
Rozpočet tím extrémně nabobtnal a bude ještě růst.
“My services and I are committed to continue to work hand in hand with everybody who wants to ensure that Global Gateway delivers. Together, we can boost competitiveness, resilience, sustainability, diversification. Together, we can reduce migration and together we can strengthen strategic autonomy, not just for Europe, but also for our partners. This is our value proposition.
“Když to u třetích zemí postavíme – buď Čína, nebo my –, vyberou si Čínu. Jenže my nemusíme být rivaly. Pokud projekty Global Gateway propojíme s projekty iniciativy Pásu a stezky, získáme víc pro náš průmysl, pro naši prosperitu i pro naše občany. 2-0083-0000 (Fine della procedura "catch the eye") 2-0084-0000 Jozef Síkela, Member of the Commission. – Madam President, honourable Members, thank you for this instructive exchange. I have heard your recommendations, your refusals and partially contradictory statements. But I still believe that in today's contentious global landscape, strong partnership is more important than ever – between the EU and partner countries, between the public and private sectors and, of course, between the EU institutions and Member States.”
