And what is the European strategy? We don't have a holistic approach on militias, disarmament, Hamas, Hezbollah, territorial integrity, borders being part of a peace agreement, being on the table to negotiate.”

“When we are talking about the revenues that are withheld with Israel that, you know, belong to Palestine, actually, then we are, of course, raising this all the time to really put them in a position that they would release these revenues for Palestine because it's their taxpayers' money. When it comes to the blocking statute, then so far, you know, this is clearly the tool that is in our hands. It is a Commission initiative in this case, but many Member States have not asked for this. Few have. So the point is – of those countries that the judges are also coming from – that we need to use these tools, and then some countries are saying that we can also actually help these judges to operate with other tools. “People in the West Bank, for example, if they see that their family has been killed, their homes have been destroyed, they need to see somebody held accountable. That's why the justice system is extremely, extremely important. It's also very important for us, and to have long-term peace, because if there is accountability, there is less revenge and retaliation that keeps on happening in this region. “But we have been engaging with the Gulf partners, really, and it's actually in their interest as well that we are part of the security architecture of the region – because what everybody agrees is that the security architecture will be completely different after this war is over. Now, of course, when it comes to the international justice system, why is it so important that it's held up? It's because of the accountability. In this Parliament, we have condemned Iran's repression. We fought to include the Revolutionary Guard in the EU terrorist list. It supports Hezbollah and the violence against women. We rejected Iran's attacks on the GCC countries. Ursula von der Leyen could have done the same. It is possible for her to condemn attacks and interventions without abandoning international law. While she remains silent, she erases the memory of 165 schoolgirls who were killed, 9 Israeli persons killed and 83 kids in Lebanon who were murdered. While she avoids taking a position, Netanyahu's government – I will not confuse it with the Israelis – is not respecting Lebanon's territorial integrity.”
“We demand the transitional government to guarantee a ceasefire and to continue the path of political and legal recognition for all people, as it did with the Decree 13 on Kurdish recognition. “Mr President, Commissioner, five months ago, we led a mission, the first one to Syria to witness the country's transition. We spoke with organisations, communities, civilians. Syrians who, regardless of their religion or background, asked for one simple thing: stability and peace. After years of brutal authoritarianism, that is the least they deserve. The images from January are terrifying. Cruelty, persecution, terrorism and the displacement of hundreds of civilians in northern Syria – this reminds us of a past which we must never return to. Kurds do not deserve this. Alawites, Sunnis, Arabs and Christians do not deserve this. In short, Syrians who have fought for a better country do not deserve this. We call for an absolute commitment to equality for all Syrians and for sure we condemn violence.”

To uphold that commitment, China must now ensure that any legitimate measures avoid harming Europe's economy. The EU-China dialogue on export controls is a step in the right direction which should bring effective solutions for European companies. But let's be clear, this debate is not only about China; it is about Europe's place in a geopolitical world where access to raw materials is becoming more crucial than ever.”

“Mr President, eight days have passed since the peace agreement for Gaza was signed, and yet the Israeli Government has already killed more than 100 Palestinians and injured 80 more. The Israeli Government has not fulfilled fully the agreement from the beginning. We also condemn any breach of the ceasefire by Hamas. The situation is very fragile. We ask the Commission to closely monitor the situation and keep sanctioning the Israeli Government, who must be held accountable for its actions in Gaza and in the West Bank, where many civilians continue to be killed and are subject to the violence of the settlers. We hope that the ceasefire can bring peace and the possibility of establishing the two-state solution with the '67 borders. For that to happen, the Rafah crossing must be opened and humanitarian aid properly delivered.”

I want to convey our solidarity with the families of the hostages that are with us today. Believe us, we want more than anything for the hostages to be released and for there to be peace and security within a two-state solution for Israel and Palestine. In this already-declared genocide by the United Nations, we are not only seeing the far-right government of Netanyahu killing more than 67 000 Palestinians, but destroying the last resort of democracy in Israel. Just one week ago, during your press conference in Jerusalem, you failed to mention the 50 200 Gazans who have been killed by Israel. You are well aware that every time we have taken the floor in this chamber, we have called for the release of the hostages and unequivocally condemned terrorism. But Israel ended the ceasefire – and this is something we need to talk about. More than 900 civilians, including children, humanitarian workers and journalists, have been killed. 142 000 people have been forcibly displaced in Gaza – 50 000 in the West Bank, because the far-right Israeli government refuses to recognise the two-state solution.”

La guerra de agresión rusa sigue socavando el orden europeo mientras la rivalidad global se intensifica. Incluso alianzas históricas como la transatlántica son inestables. Ya no basta con proclamar principios, debemos dotarlos de fuerza política y coherencia exterior. En Oriente Próximo la crisis humanitaria, con la pérdida de decenas de miles de vidas y la destrucción de ciudades en su totalidad, exige más que silencios o declaraciones. El bloqueo de ayuda humanitaria a Gaza por parte del Gobierno de Israel supone un crimen de guerra. El sufrimiento de la población civil no debe ser una herramienta de presión. Los bebés están muriendo de frío en Gaza. La Unión Europea debe impulsar las fases dos y tres del alto el fuego o solo quedarán dos escenarios posibles: una nueva guerra o el plan del resort de Trump. Existe una estrategia silenciosa de ocupación por parte de Israel que se ha apropiado el 16 % de las tierras agrícolas de Gaza, al igual que en Cisjordania y Jerusalén, donde la expansión de asentamientos ilegales israelíes, la confiscación de tierras y el desplazamiento forzoso se han intensificado.”

A su vez, Elon Musk está actuando como un actor político de facto con estrategias injerencistas en Europa a través de X, y esto exige una respuesta decidida. Hemos hecho una propuesta desde este Parlamento con sanciones concretas desde el marco de la política exterior.”

Después de 471 días, 110 000 heridos, 46 913 muertos —la mitad de ellos niños—, la destrucción del 65 % de las infraestructuras y el desplazamiento del 90 % de la población gazatí, 1 200 muertos y 5 400 heridos israelíes: todo esto se podía haber evitado si este mismo pacto hubiera sido aceptado meses antes o si hubiéramos actuado con más determinación.”
