Fighting terrorism certainly does not look like this. Lebanon, therefore, must not become a second Gaza. There are talks of a lasting peace, but can these men that are gambling with the security of the entire world be trusted? We will believe it only when the bombs will stop falling. Because if these talks fall apart, Europe can no longer be complicit.”

A po tretie, neklamte, že rozkrádanie eurofondov nikoho nezaujíma. Sú to ľudia, aj vaši bývalí kolegovia socialisti a sú to hlavne ľudia, bežní ľudia u nás doma, ktorí za toto bojujú. Ktorých to naozaj veľmi trápi.”

A hlavne v čase, keď hovoríme o rozpade alebo tom, že sa otriasa transatlantická bezpečnosť v základoch. Lenže zjavne máme iný problém. Napríklad my na Slovensku máme takú vládu, kde minister obrany pri debate o dronoch odmieta vôbec spomínať ruskú hrozbu a teda zjavne nie je jediný. Ideálne by bolo, keby si obranu proti dronom zabezpečil ako biznis s kamarátmi. Ideálne, aby sa mu do toho Európska únia vôbec neplietla. A preto ja mám pre vás iný odkaz. Ja chcem našich európskych partnerov ubezpečiť o tom, že ani Slovensko nie je Fico, ani Maďarsko nie je Orbán.”

“Mr President, dear colleagues, abortion is healthcare. Women are dying because they were denied it even when they wanted to continue their pregnancy – you know it? Abortion needs to be available because rape survivors must have the right to decide over their own bodies. If today some countries are still failing to provide this, Europe must step in – I am very much convinced about that. I saw the resistance first-hand during our negotiations on the Victims' Rights Directive. Simply acknowledging that abortion may be part of healthcare for victims of rape was fiercely contested. But because we in the European Parliament stood firm, we will make history. For the first time ever, EU legislation will recognise abortion as healthcare for rape victims. This is a symbolic breakthrough, but we need more than symbols. It's not enough.”
“Vážený pán predsedajúci, v nadchádzajúcom roku bude rozpočet Európskej únie 192,8 miliardy eur. Európsky parlament neustúpil a vybojoval viac, ako navrhovala aj Komisia, aj členské štáty. A podarilo sa nám získať o 372 miliónov eur viac. A tieto peniaze pôjdu do oblastí, ktoré skutočne zlepšujú život ľuďom naprieč celou Európou: do výskumu, do dopravy, do energetiky, zdravia, životného prostredia aj obrany. Dostanú viac študenti na Erasmus aj poľnohospodári. Nie je to teda rozpočet, ktorý šetrí na občanoch, hoci toho mohlo byť viac. Teraz ale apelujem na národné vlády: Nepremrhajte túto príležitosť. Bude na vás, aby tieto peniaze boli použité spravodlivo a pre tých, ktorí to najviac potrebujú. A kolegom europoslancom: Pozrite sa, ako proeurópska väčšina vieme nájsť kompromisy, ako vieme dosahovať výsledky.”
“Vážená pani predsedajúca, o podpore európskeho obranného priemyslu hovoríme už roky, ale stále sme málo ambiciózni. Nie sme dosť rýchli, lebo zjavne nepočúvame varovania o tom, ako sa Rusko chystá na Európu. A aj EDIP prichádza len o päť minút dvanásť. Ani výška EDEIP-u nie je dostatočná ani zďaleka. Lebo stále zjavne nevnímame, že spoločne môžeme budovať obranu oveľa lacnejšie. Ale je tu. Máme tu historicky prvý skutočný európsky program obranného priemyslu. A áno, je výnimočný. Je výnimočný, lebo vďaka nemu zintenzívňuje spoločnú výrobu, pomáhame nakopnúť ekonomiku aj vytvárať nové pracovné miesta, zvýšiť našu spoločnú obranu. Uprednostníme to európske a, čo je dnes zásadné, posilníme aj spoluprácu s ukrajinským priemyslom. EDIP nie je ideálny, ale má potenciál posunúť nás na ceste ku skutočnej strategickej autonómii EÚ. 2-0043-0000”

What we are trying to do in Renew is to find precisely the right balance, because we cannot have prosperous regions and prosperous people if we do not have prosperous agricultural policies in Europe. So I understand that it's a difficult thing to do for us, but we cannot just go on with some pushes, neither if it's from agricultural conglomerates. But on the other hand, let's try to focus on the regions that are really falling behind. We still need to keep them inside and ensure that all the people are served. 1-0141-0000”

“Mr President, colleagues, Commissioner, when I became a Renew coordinator for the budget about a year ago, I knew one thing: we do not have the climate for major treaty changes, but we certainly can shape Europe through the next MFF. We have this huge opportunity. However, today, seeing what's ahead of us, I fear that we've lost that ambition – ambition for the EU to be more than a mere conduit for national interests and for contributions. In Renew Europe – and you've heard it – we remain constructive, but honestly a bit concerned because regions remain sidelined even after the changes, and too much power over common money is handed back to national governments.”
“Madam President, yes, gender-based violence costs lives and it must be addressed. As a co-rapporteur of the Victims Rights Directive, I am doing everything I can to stand up for victims of violence. But what also must be addressed are politicians who are fuelling violence against women. Far right: don't fool the people, because are you really talking about protecting women? I see that in 2025, we keep on hearing that the far right is perpetuating women's suffering. You criminalise women's control of their own bodies. You defund women's health programmes. You are the one that frames feminism as anti-male or anti-family. In my country, Slovakia, and actually across Europe, women's rights are under siege by these forces. This is violence, the political violence that silences, that destroys freedoms, that even kills.”
“Mr President, Vladimir Putin has no right to be in Ukraine, and he has certainly no business to be in Budapest. He is a war criminal. Period. He belongs before an international tribunal, colleagues. “Mr President, Commissioner, colleagues, the 2026 budget is not just about figures – I hope we know it. It's about Europe's future. It's about the promises that we make to our citizens. We, in Renew Europe, fought very hard to secure hundreds of millions more for research, for innovation, for health and for defence. These are investments that protect and empower Europeans. But I turn to Member States, to the Council, because I cannot comprehend how Member States can keep on proposing cuts to Erasmus+, the EU's most successful and most beloved programme. Erasmus+ is not just a budget line, it is the promise of opportunity. It is the bridge that is connecting young people across borders. Instead of cutting it, we should be expanding it. We should be bold to make grants easier, more accessible.”

“Vážený pán predsedajúci, pán podpredseda Európskej komisie, Európa konečne robí v obrane to, čo mala robiť už roky. Odbúrava byrokraciu, spája priemysel a plánuje spoločné investície. Ale ak niektoré štáty túto spoluprácu buď spomaľujú, alebo odmietajú, tak tým ohrozujú nás všetkých. Komisia vo svojom programe síce nastavuje správny smer, no chýbajú jej nástroje, mechanizmy na vymáhanie záväzkov, kontrolu fondov a ochranu pred politizáciou a korupciou. Ak chceme, aby európska obrana nebola len pekným plánom, potrebuje aj jasný systém zodpovednosti. Ten nám ukáže, kto do obrany investuje, kto proti nej zbrojí, kto ju brzdí, ale aj kto kšeftuje s kamarátmi. Brusel sa nesmie len prizerať, keď aj niektoré vlády obchádzajú pravidlá, pretože ide o našu spoločnú bezpečnosť.”
“Vážený pán predsedajúci, komisárka. Snahy o rodovú rovnosť v Európe sa zase raz spomaľujú, vidíme to vďaka kolegom napravo. Je odopieraná ženám zdravotná starostlivosť vrátane prístupu k interrupciám. Na internete sa vďaka vám darí otvorenej mizogíny a stupňujú sa útoky na sexuálne aj iné menšiny. Práve preto je táto deklarácia o rovnosti taká dôležitá. Niektoré krajiny a zjavne kolegovia a kolegyne potrebujú pripomenúť, že rovnosť nie je len fráza. A spomínalo sa tu aj Slovensko. Tak u nás na Slovensku súčasná vláda pretlačila novelu ústavy, ktorá ohrozuje demokraciu, naše medzinárodné záväzky, ale hlavne hlavne útočí na princípy rovnosti a spravodlivosti a to všetko pre lacné politické body. Toto je podľa vás demokracia? Toto je niečo normálne? Našou povinnosťou je chrániť všetkých občanov a občianky Európskej únie.”

“Madam President, dear colleagues, Commissioner, I want to talk about the size of the MFF today, because the annual EU budget is roughly as large as the budget of the country holding currently the presidency, Denmark, with 6 million people. But Europeans ‑ half a billion people ‑ demand much more, we've heard it: prosperous regions; investments in infrastructure, security, climate action, media, support for civil society and much more. But how? How can we fund all this if we shy away from discussing alternative resources? The Commissioner said it. We see memes comparing the US and China to leaders of a new space age, while the EU is dealing with bottle lids ‑ we've heard that today. But, dear citizens, it's about the amount of competences and precisely resources that our governments, national governments are granting to the European Union.”
“Vážená pani predsedajúca, vážená vysoká predstaviteľka a vážení kolegovia, kolegyne. Správy z Gazy sú naozaj hrozivé. Humanitárna pomoc blokovaná, nemocnice zbombardované, viac ako pol milióna ľudí čelí hladomoru. V posledných dňoch boli zabité desiatky ľudí pri čakaní na jedlo a vodu. Voláme po mieri, ale koľkí Palestínčania sa ho reálne dožijú? Koľko ľudí ešte musí zomrieť, aby sme si ako Únia uvedomili, že vieme použiť páky, ktoré máme teraz k dispozícii? Nikto nespochybňuje právo Izraela brániť sa, ale to, čo dnes sledujeme, už dávno nie je sebaobrana. Uznania ani vyhlásenia už nestačia. Musíme byť naozaj ráznejší, ak si ctíme hodnoty, na ktorých bola Európska únia založená. Musíme trvať na pozastavení asociačnej dohody Únie s Izraelom, lebo týmto krokom môžeme zachrániť ľudské životy. To je naše minimum.”

“To me, this is a clear reminder that freedom is not a given, that our democracy needs to be defended. We know exactly what is at stake when Russia threatens us with a new war. So, what should we do? The European Union, through the activation of the escape clause, has provided Member States with the exceptional ability to raise defence expenditures. Member states will also have the opportunity to borrow cheaply through the SAFE instrument. But let us also make sure that this money, these investments, do not end up in the hands of some defence oligarchs, and that we will be paying for things that our armies and our security actually need. The upcoming NATO summit is therefore a critical juncture. It is no longer about if, but precisely how fast we can increase defence expenditures to a sufficient level. It's not our thirst for militarisation, colleagues, Mr Fico, Mr Orbán. It's because of Putin. Intelligence agencies across Europe have been warning us that Russia plans to test NATO and the EU in just a few years, if you didn't hear. My country, Slovakia, remembers it very well. This coming Saturday marks 34 years since the last train carrying Soviet troops left Czechoslovakia – the true end of the occupation.”

I fell in love with Türkiye about 20 years ago, and I believe many of you might have had the same experience discovering a country while travelling and instantly falling in love with its people, culture, its soul. But since that first visit, my heart has been breaking down again and again every time a Turkish friend calls me and tells me they are leaving the country, that the situation is becoming dire, that they are losing hope, because – and let's be clear – you cannot imprison your main political opponent and still call yourself a democracy. But unfortunately, this isn't just about Türkiye, right? Across Europe, authoritarians are learning from each other, from Ankara to Budapest to Bratislava. Condemning such actions is not enough, dear European Union.”
“Vážený pán komisár. Nadchádzajúci viacročný finančný rámec nesmie byť len excelovským cvičením. Musí byť strategickou odpoveďou na výzvy, ktorým čelíme. A to vrátane podpory najzraniteľnejších regiónov, aj na hranici s vojnou na Ukrajine. Nie sú perifériou – sú strategickým priestorom Európy. Pretože bez silného východného Slovenska nebude silné ani západné Francúzsko. Bez bezpečného južného Talianska nebude prosperovať ani severné Nemecko. Ak neinvestujeme do spoločnej bezpečnosti aj cez eurobondy, tak nás Putin v ďalšom kroku zhltne ako dezert naservírovaný Trumpom. Naša bezpečnosť musí byť prioritou, ale nezabúdajme, že bezpečnosť Európy nestojí len na obrane, ale aj na talente mladých. Investície do ich vzdelania aj cez program Erasmus sa nám naozaj vrátia.”
“Vážená pani predsedajúca, Rusi zbroja, akoby už nič pozajtra nemalo existovať. Ak Putina nezastavíme spolu, pôjde ďalej. Tieto slová mi v sobotu v Kyjeve na mojej ceste povedal zástupca ministra obrany. A viete, mňa naozaj šokuje, že kolegovia aj v tomto pléne žijú stále v ilúzii, že nás sa to netýka. Obe správy, o ktorých tu dnes rokujeme, konštatujú, že jedinou cestou, schodnou cestou k obnoveniu ukrajinskej suverenity je mier. Ale vy, ktorí voláte po rýchlom mieri bez záruk a ešte si chodíte aj po inštrukcie do Moskvy, tak sa už konečne choďte spýtať aj do Kyjeva! Ukrajinci už mali rýchlokvasený ruský mier na stole veľakrát. A kam ich to priviedlo? Nevoláte po skutočnom mieri, ale po kapitulácii. Takýto mier by bol len prestávkou, ktorú Putin potrebuje na prípravu na ďalší útok, a tentoraz už priamo na Európsku úniu.”

And believe me, we cannot afford to ignore the growing risks of further aggression further. It is crucial that we make security a top priority in our 2026 budget guidelines and negotiate it resolutely with Member States. I want to thank the rapporteur and the shadow rapporteurs for placing defence at the forefront of next year's budget, because the war on our doorstep is real. And the only way to safeguard Europe's future is through collective defence and unwavering support for Ukraine. Strengthening our military capabilities, investing in defence technologies and showing solidarity with Ukraine are all essential. Their fight is our fight.”
“Vážený pán predsedajúci, kolegovia, kolegyne, priznajme si to a hovorme to už nahlas. V Európe máme vojnu, akú sme nezažili od štyridsiatych rokov a pod tlakom novej geopolitickej situácie hrozí, že sa naozaj skončí prehrou Ukrajiny. Vojna sa ale môže posunúť aj hlbšie do Európy a presne o to Putinovi ide. Poraziť Ukrajinu, získať čas na prezbrojenie a destabilizovať nás medzitým dezinformáciami. Koho potom obetujeme? Pobaltie, Poľsko, moje Slovensko? Nemáme desiatky rokov, možno máme mesiace, aby sme vytvorili spoločnú obranu, ktorá Rusko odstraší, ale presne o tom odstrašení je táto debata. O asertívnosti a o našej jednote. A o tom by mala byť aj debata o bielej knihe. Áno, bude nás to niečo stáť, ale bude to cena prevencie a udržateľného mieru určite nižšia ako cena vojny.”

“Madam President, dear colleagues, during this discussion, we need to acknowledge that gender equality is not just a matter of justice, but also of security. I think we hear it over here. Women need to be secure from physical and sexual violence, and they also need to be present when looking for safe solutions. Thanks to this roadmap, we now have a path forward, and I am honoured to shadow its implementing strategy, but what should we do? First, we need to combat violence, including integrating consent-based rape laws. Second, we must ensure equality in all areas of life and work, and this means gender mainstreaming and gender budgeting. It is not an ideology.”

“Vážená pani predsedajúca, dnes tu stojím s víziou Európy, ktorá je spravodlivá, láskavá a verná svojim spoločným hodnotám, pán predrečník. Európy postavenej na tolerancii, kde o vzťahu dvoch dospelých ľudí rozhodujú ich city, ich vzájomné city, a nie povolenia politikov, kde každé dieťa, bez ohľadu na orientáciu alebo pohlavie svojich rodičov, má právo na stabilitu, bezpečie a rodinu. Verím v Európsku úniu, ktorá spája, nie rozdeľuje. Takú, ktorá nedovolí, aby prekročenie hranice znamenalo stratu rodiča. Aj Európsky súdny dvor, už sme o tom počuli, tvrdí, že ak je právny vzťah uznaný v jednej krajine, musí ho rešpektovať aj iná krajina.
