But do you think that is enough? Do you think the Biotech Act provides enough solutions to tackle the problem of being squeezed from both sides or do we need something more? Yes, a very good question indeed. And I do think that many of the things that we have done together already in this field and the Biotech Act II are very important cornerstones.”

The bioeconomy contributes almost EUR 1 trillion annually to our Union, more than 8 % of GDP, and supports 17 % of our jobs. We must use this strategic asset to build for our future food security and to deliver our clean transition. Europe's position is under pressure. The US and China move very fast. Now our Europe needs a strong Biotech Act II to create lead markets, to buy greener, to simplify how we regulate.”

De skal have adgang til ren, billig energi fra vind, sol, vand og A-kraft. Det fremmer sikkerhed og konkurrencekraft. For at få det til at ske har vi et ETS-system. ETS gør vores helt egen energi til en god forretning. Det sætter pris på CO2 og flytter investeringer i den rigtige retning. ETS sørger for, at forureneren betaler - sund fornuft - og dét finansierer endda omstillingen. Hvilken luksus! Patrioterne og ECR vil skrotte det hele. Helt ærligt, det er simpelthen ikke klogt. Nej, vi skal udvikle ETS, ikke afvikle det.”

Og Europa bliver ikke sikkert, før vi er uafhængige af energi udefra og derfor mere vedvarende energi. Vindmøller. Solceller. A-kraft i EU. Energi vi selv kontrollerer. “Mr President, dear colleagues, fellow Europeans, I speak with pride as one of the vice-chairs of the Committee on Public Health. In Europe, no one goes bankrupt because of a cancer diagnosis. In too many places in the world access to care depends on wealth or politics. In Europe, we take care of our people. And yes, despite what some may claim, this also applies to patients in Greenland. The EU has a plan to beat cancer and we are on track in a majority of countries, but we must, of course, do more. Every minute, five people in the EU are diagnosed with cancer. Two die, one of them could be saved. We need thorough actions against tobacco, vapes, ultra-processed foods and harmful consumptions of alcohol. We need much stronger cross-border cooperation in diagnosis, screening and treatment. The EU stands strong.”

“Madam President, dear colleagues, since the amendments for this report were tabled last week, the situation regarding Greenland has changed and is now even more serious. In light of this, I want to move the following oral amendment, on behalf of the Renew Europe Group, to be added after paragraph 34: 'Confirms its full and unwavering solidarity with Greenland as part of the Kingdom of Denmark; denounces the use of unilateral trade threats and economic intimidation against Denmark and other EU Member States as a form of coercion incompatible with international law and the core principles of cooperation between NATO allies; warns against attempts to instrumentalise security concerns in the Arctic to exert territorial or political pressure; fully supports the position of the Kingdom of Denmark, including Greenland, that Greenland is not for sale; stresses that Greenland must not be used as a tool to divide the European Union; calls on the Union to respond firmly, collectively and decisively, and to resist any such actions.'.”

“Mr President, Commissioner, allow me to address our dear American friends. We have fought shoulder to shoulder, defending our shared values of democracy and freedom. The way your current administration treats us makes absolutely no sense and the claims being made are simply not true. Let me give you some facts: Greenlanders are proud, peace-loving people, but the 56 000 people of Greenland are scared. Greenlanders do not want to be Americans. They want to be Greenlanders, part of the Danish Kingdom and close to the European Union. There's not a single Chinese or Russian warship around Greenland as of now. Our defence agreement allows you wide military freedom in Greenland. You once had 10 000 troops in Greenland, today around 150. Denmark is investing more than USD 13 billion in new capabilities in Greenland.”

The task to build Europe's strategic sovereignty in medicines is more urgent than ever, as the stability we've long relied on is gone. Europe must now prepare for a harsher world. For højt blodtryk, hjertesvigt, slagtilfælde, blodpropper, vi ved det godt, men flere unge begynder at ryge, flere får usunde spisevaner, og flere får hjertekarsygdomme. Helt ærligt, hvor længe skal der gå, før vi gør noget? Ikke længere, hvis I spørger mig, for nu går vi i gang i EU, og tusind tak for planen. Vi skal gøre op med det, der gør os syge, og vi ved, hvad det er, der virker. Det usunde skal ikke være billigst. Det skal være dyrere at bruge alle former for nikotinprodukter, drikke for meget, spise for meget sødt og ultraforarbejdede fødevarer. Og så skal vi belønne de sunde valg: nul moms på frugt og grønt, nul moms på sport, motion og træning. Det er moderat politik.”

“Mr President, Commissioner, dear colleagues, our Preparedness Union is getting real. I could have spoken about viruses, threatening situations, but I will focus on the positive. We can be efficient in countering global health threats. As a Union, we must think together, innovate together, purchase together, stockpile together, and be ready to act together. Build on rescEU. It's time to leverage the public procurement to make joint purchases of much needed vaccines and other countermeasures. Innovation is about preparedness, too. Yes, we can ensure that we are ready to invent, see new products in the market and invest. How? With more Europe. A strong co-ordinating role for the Commission, for ECDC and for HERA. “Hr. Formand! Når man lytter til nogen her i Europa-Parlamentet, kan man bedre forstå, at vi stadig bruger russisk gas. Jeg behøver ikke nævne navne. Vi ved jo godt, hvem det er. Der sidder nogen her, som ikke mener, at Putin har gjort noget som helst galt, og som i øvrigt mener, at døren skal stå på vid gab. Det efterlader et større arbejde og ansvar til os andre, og det skal vi tage på os. Hver dag vi importerer russisk gas, betaler vi for de missiler, som rammer familiers hjem. Det skal stoppe, koste hvad det vil. Alle lande skal stoppe import af russisk gas, og vi skal støtte, at det bliver muligt nu. Vi skal sætte fart på udbygningen af anden energi, vind i nord og sol i syd, brint og Power-to-X og, hvad det hedder alt sammen. Og vi skal investere massivt i Europas energiinfrastruktur, så vi kan transportere energien i Europa.”
“Fru formand! Kære kolleger, kære grønlændere. Grønland har bygget et stolt samfund. Et samfund bygget på værdier, som vi genkender her i Europa. Værdier som demokrati, frihed, velfærdssamfund og retssamfund. Hvordan Grønlands fremtid skal se ud, skal ene og alene være op til grønlænderne. Man kan ikke købe jeres fremtid. Man kan ikke købe Grønland. Den ambition er en hån imod det grønlandske folk. Men i den moderne verden er selvstændighed retten til at bestemme, hvem man helst vil være afhængig af. Og den ret er jeres. Og vi skal naturligvis stadig arbejde tæt sammen med amerikanerne om bl.a. forsvar og udvinding af råstoffer.
