“I have heard directly from project sponsors, local communities, and the Corps itself about the things that are working and things we need to fix. I learned about our Nation's critical lock and dam infrastructure by touring key projects, like the Wilson Lock in Alabama and the Chickamauga Lock in Tennessee.”

Under President Trump's leadership, the Army Corps of Engineers has been cutting red tape and working harder than ever to build and maintain our vital water infrastructure, and this bill further empowers the Corps to get that job done. WRDA 2026 expands the Corps' ability to pursue alternative delivery methods and gives project sponsors more flexibility so that projects move faster. This bill modernizes contracting processes and ensures that projects meet congressionally authorized schedules and costs. WRDA 2026 holds the Corps accountable to deliver long-overdue reports that are necessary for Congress to plan and invest taxpayers' money wisely.”

I learned about our Nation's critical lock and dam infrastructure by touring key projects, like the Wilson Lock in Alabama and the Chickamauga Lock in Tennessee. When visiting the Houston Ship Channel in Texas and the Ports of Savannah and Brunswick in my home State of Georgia, I saw how regular dredging ensures America's maritime communities can safely and efficiently deliver for Americans and grow our economy. Every Congress, both sides of the aisle work together to ensure one of America's greatest gifts, our inland and coastal waterways, is working for all Americans. That is exactly what this WRDA does.”

“Mr. Speaker, I thank Chairman Graves for yielding me time. Mr. Speaker, as chairman of the Water Resources and Environment Subcommittee, I am proud of the work we have done putting together the Water Resources Development Act of 2026. Every 2 years, Congress reauthorizes the United States Army Corps of Engineers' civil works programs, and WRDA 2026 continues that bipartisan tradition. With this bill, we aim to strengthen the Corps' ability to achieve its mission, including safe navigation of America's inland and coastal waterways and improving flood control systems. During my time as subcommittee chairman, I have had the opportunity to travel across the country to see how important the Corps' work is to our Nation.”
