  2. “Mr. Speaker, I am proud to rise today in strong support of my legislation, the Providing Emotional Assistance with Relief and Love Act, also known as the PEARL Act. For years, the men and women of Customs and Border Protection have faced mental health challenges. From confronting the scourge of illicit fentanyl crossing our borders to witnessing the heartbreaking toll of human trafficking, including trafficking of unaccompanied minors, these officers deal with some of the most difficult emotional stresses that exist. In fiscal years 2016 through 2025, 81 CBP employees died by suicide. In 2023, CBP launched the Support Canine Program to boost morale and improve officers' mental health through therapy dogs.”
