It is important that we have the most effective information-sharing capabilities and processes.”

I think everybody knows that the Department of Homeland Security was created after the horrific attacks on our country on September 11, 2001. One of the major contributing factors that allowed September 11 to occur was a lack of adequate information sharing between intelligence and law enforcement agencies. Different agencies saw warning signs, but because they weren't communicating with each other adequately and they didn't connect the dots, nearly 3,000 lives were lost on that tragic day. This bill seeks to ensure that the Department of Homeland Security's Office of Intelligence and Analysis, or I&A, engages in adequate two- way information sharing. I&A is the only member of the U.S.”

However, there have been numerous incidents across administrations of both parties of I&A employees failing to adhere to best practices in intelligence work, including, at times, by inappropriately violating the civil rights of individuals being targeted. Importantly, my bill ensures that the standardized training program include mandatory training on civil rights, civil liberties, privacy rights, regulations, and information practices for all hires on day one. We need intelligence professionals to not only do their jobs effectively but also do them in a manner that upholds people's rights.”

The men and women of the U.S. Customs and Border Protection face high levels of stress and exposure to trauma in their day-to-day operations. That is why we should invest in initiatives that support the health of CBP officers and agents. This bill creates a pilot program that authorizes CBP to adopt dogs from local animal shelters and train them as therapy dogs. Multiple studies have shown that even short-term interactions with a therapy dog can significantly reduce anxiety and distress. Not only will this bill give CBP officers and agents more access to therapy dogs, it will also help dogs in need of homes across the country. {time} 1130 Mr.”

The whistleblower reports that under this new system, the Trump administration is building their own list of who they think should be eligible to vote, and Postal Service workers will be required to scan bar codes on ballots to see if the voter appears on the Trump administration's list, a list that has not been made publicly available. They admit that it exists, but they have not shown the list to the public. If just one bar code on just one ballot does not match a name on this secret list, then the whole batch of ballots numbering as many as 10,000 will not be delivered to the States to be counted. “President Ruggerio made his career in the labor movement, working with the Laborers' International Union of North America before retiring when he assumed the Office of the President of the Rhode Island Senate. During his tenure in the senate, he championed raising the minimum wage, protecting workers' pensions, and rebuilding infrastructure, among many other causes. “USAID's Office of Food for Peace has funded the manufacture and distribution of this food relief to the developing world for decades, but with the closure of USAID, and despite the assurances of Secretary Rubio and other administration officials, no new orders have been submitted for the next fiscal year. As a result, Edesia, the factory in my district, has had to lay off staff, leaving production of Plumpy'Nut slowed nearly to a halt. Shipments meant for starving children have been stranded in warehouses. There are boxes of this stuff sitting in warehouses right now with no place to go. That is why I am working with a bipartisan group of colleagues to introduce legislation to make the lives and work of caregivers a little easier. Together, we are introducing bills to expand access to tax-free savings accounts to cover the costs of medical expenses, to improve communication between Medicare and caregivers to streamline the benefits process, and to create a new $5,000 tax credit to help offset the costs of family caregiving. Just a few weeks ago, I joined a bipartisan, bicameral group of colleagues to introduce the Alleviating Barriers for Caregivers Act to eliminate red tape for caregivers.”
