IN THEIR OWN WORDS

“Generations of kids from our public schools have gone there for field trips to see upstate apples pressed into fresh cider, and eat warm doughnuts pulled straight out of the fryer.”

“It is the type of place that brings people together, something we really need these days when so many forces are trying to pull us apart. Mr. Speaker, to all my friends at the Cider Mill and my neighbors who continue to support it, here is to 100 years of tradition and to many more ahead. ____________________”

“Mr. Speaker, when the stakes are highest, that is when upstate New Yorkers' grit and toughness shows the most. Just look at our Averill Park Golden Knights, who brought home both the baseball and softball State championships this year.”

“Mr. Speaker, working families are getting screwed. Last year, I met a young family in Sullivan County who was struggling to make ends meet. Mr. Speaker, do you cut back on the groceries to pay the rent? Do you maybe pick up a couple of extra shifts at work? However, then you have to pay for more childcare.”

  2. “Generations of kids from our public schools have gone there for field trips to see upstate apples pressed into fresh cider, and eat warm doughnuts pulled straight out of the fryer. When I was growing up, I would stop at the Cider Mill on my walk home from school and use some of my paper route money for the best deal in town: a fresh doughnut and a pint of cider for a couple of bucks. When I brought my wife home to meet my parents for the first time, our first stop was not at my parent's house. It was at the Cider Mill. I think Monica loved it so much that she later said ``yes'' when I asked her to marry me. This year, the Cider Mill celebrates its 100th year in business. For over a century, folks have walked through the doors of that big red barn on Nanticoke Avenue and found not just crates of fresh apples but community.”

  3. “Mr. Speaker, in upstate New York, we love our neighbors. We root for the underdog, and we cherish our traditions. Anyone from Broome County will tell you that one of our best traditions is a visit to the Cider Mill in Endicott to celebrate the start of fall.”
