2. “It directs the Army Corps to consider the impact of data centers, a growing issue in this country, on water supply and conservation projects. This is especially important in the Southwest because if you look at the plans for these data centers, about two-thirds of those on the books coming up are slated to be built in regions that are experiencing drought. The bill also includes provisions I championed to create a pilot program using natural infrastructure in dryland streams. These are in arid and drought-prone areas. The pilot program would benefit Nevada, where 88 percent of our streams are ephemeral. That includes our Amargosa River, which was recently labeled one of America's most endangered rivers.”

3. “Mr. Speaker, I rise today also in support of the Water Resources Development Act of 2026, WRDA. This past summer, Lake Mead and Lake Powell, two reservoirs in the Southwest, reached historic lows. Projections show that they will continue to decline in the years to come. At the same time, the Trump administration has issued a planning document that could cut 70 percent of southern Nevada's water supply. That would just decimate the economy and lifestyle and the lives and livelihoods of people in southern Nevada, so we need to use all the tools that we have available to us to conserve water and mitigate such a crisis. I believe that WRDA 2026 does just that. It includes provisions that I championed to create an office of water supply, water conservation, and drought resilience.”
