1. “Tough school, you say. I was. It was originally a grammar school in Worksop, which is a mining town in North Nottinghamshire, which is a town my mother was born and bred in. But I went to the Heartland Grammar School at Pass my 11 plus, and after a couple of years we became a comprehensive, we merged with the neighbouring secondary modern school, as they were called, and pretty much anarchy broke out. 2. “I think people would say that that have known me. I mean, I was a criminal barrister, remember, and I defended far more than I ever prosecuted. And, you know, I used to say to my clients, you know, I'd go through the evidence, I would be very firm in my advice, but if they said they hadn't done whatever it was they had been accused of doing, I said then I will get on and I will fight for you. People often think that you give your opinions and all the rest of it. You don't. You put forward your advance your client's case. But yeah, I've always supposed like a bit of a scrap.”
