  2. There is actually a very specific moment in time that I look back on as the birth of this topic. My brother Chip and I were sitting in our dad's office at his home in Durham, North Carolina. It was Christmas. And we were in the midst of a discussion about a book that we later abandoned. And this is a book we've been working on for maybe six months. And in this brainstorming that day in the office, it just became clear to us that we were kind of forcing it. We weren't that excited about the topic, the conversation had become this slog.
