  2. “This wrong path of OKRs and saying we really need to do this, I got to get my company aligned around goals. This is how we're just going to operate the whole business. And then I was in implementation work on the thing with his HR person. And I could just feel that she was just, this is hard. People don't want to do it. I'm not sure it's really going to work. We'll give it a try because our CEO said so. But really, if you had this performance review thing, I would pay you right now if you could just give it to me Monday. We need to launch this. It's chaos. The system we're using isn't great and I just need something. And we were like, wait, you would pay like what? And she was like, doesn't matter. We need the thing. And nobody to that point was willing to pay us for anything. They would use the product. They would try it. Maybe they would do a month-to-month thing, but it was hard. It was like pulling teeth. And then here we had this person saying, if you built this other thing for us, we'll pay you annual upfront kind of thing. And so that to me was the signal, which has actually come to be one of my beliefs about companies is that going to market with products.”
