  2. It reminds me of like. Language wise of the Confederacy of Dunces, the language is so good. It's so I literally was like driving around repeating sentences from the book just over and over. It's so good.

  3. It's fun. It's really fun. I like biographies and I like never been a guy that got into novels and we were talking about science fiction books earlier because I always like information. I want information, you know, like, and then I'll create a thing, but I just want information. But I read the book, The Sell Out.

  4. It was raining and I had two hours for it. It was late. I should have been asleep, but I was like, oh, it's raining. I was leaving dinner. And I was like, oh, I'm just going to go on a walk. I was like, I was on my way back to my place. And I was like, no, I'm just going to go on a walk. And I didn't think it was going to be that long, but it was like two hours in the rain. The hood off kept the hood off. Just let it. Yeah, it was great.

  5. A lot of times I like taking in other content. So maybe watch a movie, watch something that's interesting, read a book, go on a walk. I haven't been walking as much as I used to. I used to walk around all the time. I did the other night in the rain. It was one of the greatest nights ever. I just walked around in the rain for like two hours and listened to Marvin Gett.

  9. Mean, as a kid, if you don't know exactly who you are, then it leaves room for so many questions. And that's self-doubt manifesting itself in that form of just questioning everything about you. And once you kind of figure that out, so truthfully humor played a big role in that. So I'm kind of have a similar demeanor since the eighth grade, I think since the eighth grade, since discovering that it's kind of been a similar, you know, vibe for me. Just like, you know, I know what I'm good at. I know what my abilities are. Anything else? I don't really care about.

  10. I tried to keep it honest to any performance. That one, I remember just being in the back. And I remember there being like a couple too many people in the green room. So then the second show was just kind of like, yeah, I'm not thinking about the production at all. I just want to think about the material because that's what we wanted to capture. So I was in the right space by the second show. The first show was still kind of a producer, you know, and I was still cameras and this type of thing and a bit more, you know, hands-on. And then the second show was just

  16. You know, like you have to be aware of what the audience is seeing a business sense, like a sense of realizing that it is an industry. You know, it is because a lot of times comedians get frustrated with certain things, but it's like, yeah, that's part of any of business, like, you know, understanding business to a certain extent is really important. I think having an appreciation for it helps too. Know if you can learn to appreciate the, you know, it's heart with art because you want to keep it separate and you want to make something that's pure, but you also want to know how to market it. And you also want to know how to, you know, that's really important.

  17. Good from great. I think honesty, and by honesty, I mean just like your own truth, whatever excites you, whatever you're excited to perform or say or do on stage, being honest to that, an understanding of perception. Because as a performer. You have to know how this is coming across, right? And you have to adjust accordingly because, you know, sometimes you want to make sure the intention is showing and sometimes it doesn't. Sometimes you think you're being like, oh, I'm just, I get on stage. I'm so, you know, like I'm honest and these things. And it may seem like you're just bullshitting.

  18. Yeah, I mean, those that are named are great. I mean, you know, it's hard to say Cosby now to someone without being a slew of other questions. But, I mean, as far as a comedian, he was excellent. And I mean, his rhythm and control over a room was great. Chris Rock, man, it's hard.

  19. Yeah, he's, I mean, because he was honest, right? So Richard Pryor for honesty, Bo Burnham, he's a friend of mine, but I mean it wholehearted. Like Bo Burnham, because he's one of my favorite people to just watch perform. He's such a performer. He's like, your eyes never move away from him while he's on stage. You're always excited and he's one of the most brilliant people I've ever met. Oh, that's a good one. That's a good, what's a good... That third spot is hard because it's like, you know, Lewis Black has amazing time in. And draws people in in such a great way. Ellen DeGeneres is soaked. I told her, I did a show and I told her, I was like, you got to do stand up again. She was really good at stand. Oh man, that's it doesn't have to

  21. People focus on the wrong things. There are a lot of comedians who aren't funny at all or don't have stage presence but have excellent websites. They have excellent websites and the shiniest business cards and the headshots are impeccable. And who gives a fuck? You know what I mean? Like, they focus on the wrong things. If you focus on, and we actually just talked about that, like if you focus on the work.

  22. Not really. Yeah, this was in Texas, where it's Southby. Yeah, we're in Southbot, and it was like, Lisa was saying, we're going to go dancing. I was like, oh, really? I was like, I never really went to just a dance, like that type of dance, but I'd never done it before. So we went. It was fun. It was like, it was really fun. I don't think I've been. It was fun. I'm waiting for Evan and Lisa to take me again. But it was really, really fun. That's true. It's so rare that I go out. And I'm trying right now. I haven't done stand up in a little while. I'm trying to. Try to squeeze in a few more new experiences and things like that when I can, but I find myself getting bored constantly. Like if I'm not working, I get bored. Evan, at least that night was fun.

  23. My parents definitely hard workers. I'm really lucky to be able to do something that I enjoy a lot and so focus all my time and energy into that. Yeah, I like because, again, I like focusing on things that matter. You know, you go into a nightclub, right? You go to a nightclub, there's a lot of good looking people hanging out, right? The thing that really changes the energy is when someone who's accomplished something walks in, right? Like, you know, like you walk in and it's just people that there are some people just there to party and there are certain people there as like just a brief escape from Doing something, and those are the people. So I would rather be that guy than just You're just going to hang out

Like we aren't, you know, we'll go work like right after this, I'll go meet up with them and we'll go right. We enjoy it. It is so fun. And we don't get like it's not like if I heard someone talk about like, oh, I want to find a bar to go watch the game at, while that sounds fun and I really, I'm really happy for you. I also know that we're just doing two different things.

Surrounding yourself with like-minded people, all my friends, the thing that I feel luckiest with is like the group of people that I'm around. I really have excellent friends who care about making things and creating and like don't get caught up in trivial things that won't matter tomorrow. Like we don't get caught up in things that don't matter tomorrow. Don't get me wrong. We like new experiences and we like having fun. But we like work. I mean, I was at my office with friends until Six this morning, five or six this morning, just like just work. And it's a Sunday.

But even open mics, I wouldn't do the exact same open mics every time because you do it, you do well, and then move on to the next place. Like stay in motion, you know, and that's specifically for, you know, what I was doing. I'm sure it applies to other things too. Don't stay in one spot too long, you know.

  32. The people that matter realize that all that you should focus on is the work. Right now, clothing or all these things as it relates to work are important. It's a lot of intention behind, like I said, like wardrobe for the show with that type of thing. I think about that because I think everything should have some type of intention behind it. But as far as just like, I look, I mean, make you feel good. I mean, obviously clothing can, you know, make someone feel good, but focus on like focus on something of substance that means something, you know, and that's why, because if you in a creature of habit works so good because you don't spend a lot and you were talking about like listening to music while working, right? If you spend all of your energy trying to figure out where you are and reorient yourself, like, like, all right, well, what is this? And you're looking around, you're not focused on what you're supposed to focus on. So you go to the same place, you sit in the same spot, and you just, so then you can ignore everything and you can just, you know, be directed inward.

But Brian and Dove bought me a car. Because I was like walking, they're like, you shouldn't do it. And I got a text. Go pick up your car. We done a weekend in La Jolla. It's a good thing. It's kind of like a cleansing, you know. And so you can't run from it. Tell yourself it'll never happen again. It will, but tell yourself that it won't and go do it again. And stop, you know, a lot of, I wonder if it's like this, and I mean, I know comedy really well, but everyone's like kind of looking for like rules. To follow, and the sooner you realize there aren't any, the better art can be. Because people start looking for like, well, you got to do this first and you, you know, for that first special, I remember I got a lot of flack from, especially like older comics and just like, he's checking his notes on HBO. But is this kid doing?
