“Right, and they wouldn't say that to me because they could see that I was still in the zone, but they were basically trying to say, I don't think your husband will be able to do this again. And I sort of, who cares? I just looked at him and I said, I just want to know, will he still love me? And it brought our Dr. Armanda up short. He's the greatest neurosurgeon in the world at Bethesda, and he has to deal with death and tragedy every day. And I don't know if he was prepared for that question because I saw tears in his eyes. And he grabbed my hand and he said, Lee, I haven't had a patient yet who didn't wake up and love the people that they loved before. And then later, when I talked to him, he said he went home and told his wife that. And she said, How could you possibly tell that poor woman that you have no idea?”

“Yes, yes. They knew precisely what to do. If this had happened in America, he'd probably be dead or he would be a vegetable. Because the brain would still swell, but it would swell in a closed head.
