You know, I mean, it's very difficult to conceive of an omnipotent God. Who is relatively powerless in the way that our conception of freedom would imply? “I don't think, I mean, poor old Kelvin always comes up, you know, but I don't think that there's any theologian who ever walked the earth who didn't say that David was chosen over his brothers because it was the intention of God, you know. I mean, a great deal of determinists, the language is poor, but God's choices are reflected continuously in the Bible. And if that scene is predestination, it seems to me that that isolates it from the text in a way that's not appropriate.”
