  3. “Yes Exactly. And this was one of the only buildings in the city that was impacted was the one that he lived in. And he was my best friend, my first love. And it completely shattered my world. And the next day, my father drove me to an earthquake relief camp that was housing people who had lost everything. They'd lost family members. They'd lost their homes. And here I was, you know, I sort of had the most difficult thing that I have ever experienced, the biggest loss that I've ever experienced. And I was surrounded by people who had lost even more. And for that next year, the way that I think I really got through that was I spent every single day volunteering in that camp. So I would go to school. I would leave the moment class was done. And soon I was the only regular female volunteer. And so at 15, 16, I was.”
