I would also like to confirm my country’s unwavering support for the sustained and dedicated work done by the Secretary- General, Mr. Kofi Annan, to enhance and reinvigorate the role of the United Nations and to restructure its principal bodies. 9 It has now been over half a century since the establishment of the United Nations, during which time it has handled a significant number of international issues. However, the United Nations often remains unable to resolve many regional crises which have erupted since the end of the cold war. In spite of the attention paid to these issues by the international community, the majority of those included in our agenda have remained without effective solutions.”
