1. “1. Mr. President, it is a pleasant duty for my delegation to add its warmest congratulations to those already extended to you, since the opening of the general debate, on your unanimous election to the Presidency of the Assembly. I am sure that your diplomatic skills and your talent for negotiation and dialogue will enable us to bring to a successful conclusion the work of this twenty-first session, which opens in an atmosphere of crisis and anxiety. 2. We also wish to congratulate Mr. Fanfani, Minister for Foreign Affairs of Italy, who presided over the twentieth session of the General Assembly with matchless competence. 3. Lastly, we would offer our best wishes to the delegation of Guyana upon its admission to the United Nations. 4. My delegation would also like most enthusiastically to welcome Indonesia's return to the United Nations.”
