We also congratulate the Office of the High Representative on its work in Brčko district on good governance, infrastructure development and private-sector growth.   5. “We urge all parties in Bosnia and Herzegovina to reinvigorate action to agree on and implement required electoral and limited constitutional reforms. There needs to be real political will and compromise from all sides in order to find a lasting solution. We urge the authorities to work closely with the Office for Democratic Institutions and Human Rights of the Organization for Security and Cooperation in Europe and with the Venice Commission. The authorities should redouble their efforts to address the outstanding judgments of the European Court of Human Rights, most notably the rulings in the Sejdić-Finci set of cases. Successes are possible. We welcome the holding of local elections, especially in Mostar, where elections were last held in 2008.”

The United Kingdom recognizes the challenging circumstances faced since the Secretary-General’s last report (S/2020/944) — as the Special Representative and others have described today — and we welcome the progress made. The people of Haiti deserve an end to the dysfunction that has plagued State institutions and governance in that country for so long. I would like to start by joining others in calling for credible and transparent legislative elections as soon as possible. They are necessary to put Haiti on a path towards stability and prosperity. Concurrent progress on human rights is critical to underpin stability.”
