In that context, we hope that both sides will hold consultations as soon as possible, as we do not see any reason that would prevent them from doing so. We had also hoped that the report of the OPCW would have included more details on the visit of the reduced team to Damascus and any constructive outcomes of that visit. 3. “Ms. AlMatrooshi (United Arab Emirates) (spoke in Arabic): At the outset, I would like to thank Mrs. Izumi Nakamitsu for her briefing today. I would also like to reiterate the United Arab Emirates’ firm position of rejecting and explicitly condemning the use of chemical weapons under any circumstances, by anyone, anywhere. Their use constitutes a flagrant violation of the provisions of the Chemical Weapons Convention and international law. In the context of our discussion today, I would like to highlight the following points. First, making tangible progress in this dossier requires the establishment of a constructive dialogue between the Organization for the Prohibition of Chemical Weapons (OPCW) and Syria.”
