The Orchestrator
Scaling people and moving parts into one working whole.
Shantanu Narayen demonstrates classic Orchestrator leadership throughout this interview, coordinating an expansive ecosystem of chip partners, hyperscalers, third-party model providers, and enterprise customers rather than positioning Adobe as a lone actor. He articulates a deliberate integration strategy, noting that model quality alone is insufficient without embedding AI into existing creative workflows like Premiere Pro and Photoshop.
“Interesting, but then how do you make it permanent and what does that permanence look like and what's the application of that permanence, whether it's for me alone or for a conversation that you and I had which records that for posterity? So I think both of these will evolve and it's areas that how does that document become intelligent?”
“For the most part the product people look at it. I mean, I don't know anybody who says I've got enough processing power or I've got enough network bandwidth or I've got enough storage space. And so I think all those will explode. You're right. We tend to be a company that wants to exploit all of the above to deliver great value.”
“But I was going to go to the other side, whether it's just communication and expressing themselves. One should minimize the number of people for whom this is a creative outlet and it's an expression and it has nothing to do with commerce and they're not looking to monetize it, but they're looking to express themselves.”
“I think your point really brings to the forefront the fact that the more people who use your products really differentiating yourself with your content is more of a challenge. That comes with democratization of access to tools and information.”
