When will the Prime Minister listen to Conservatives and repeal all these Liberal laws and taxes that are blocking development, so Canadians can build?”
“Mr. Speaker, we thought Justin Trudeau was the worst money manager in Canadian history. The current Prime Minister said, “Hold my champagne, and watch what I do.” What he did was double the deficit. Can members believe that? We did not think the deficit could get any worse. In fact, when Justin Trudeau left that deficit, it was such a bad budget, such a bad update, that the then finance minister left her job, dropped the book and ran away because she did not want to be the one to take the blame for it. Then the Prime Minister came along and said, “Watch what I do.” He doubled that deficit, giving Canadians the highest food inflation in the G7. The Liberals are going to raise taxes even more, when Canadians have some of the highest household debt in the entire OECD. Canadians are not getting by; they are getting less.”
“Mr. Speaker, the member is absolutely right. The Liberals have protected oligopolies, and not just in the grocery sector. If we look at telecoms and banking, we pay some of the highest fees in the entire world. It is because the government drove away competition. It supports banks merging. It supports telecoms merging, whereas Conservatives, as a core belief, believe that more competition is better for Canadians. It brings down prices. However, the government has done such a great job with all of its anti-development, anti-growth laws and barriers that $600 billion of good Canadian investment, jobs, and anything and everything that could have happened here in Canada have been driven out to the U.S. and other places.”

“We just need the government to get out of the way. It is as simple as that. It is a concerning fact, which we do not hear the Liberals talk about, that. 2.2 million Canadians a month are going to a food bank. They are food insecure. People do not know where their paycheques are going because the government has raised taxes so high by their inflationary spending that more goes toward Canadians' taxes than it does to essentials like food and housing combined. This is not only damaging to Canadians but is fiscal mismanagement to the highest degree. Every single cost at the grocery store has gone up. We hear about moms looking for produce, double-checking and triple-checking. In fact, sometimes they delay buying what they want to buy.”

We should be able to be sovereign and independent from the U.S., so that tariffs do not bother us at all because we have our own growing economy and are not dependent on just one country. However, because of anti-development laws and taxes like Bill C-69 , the no new pipeline bill, or Bill C-48 , which does not let our oil and gas leave the west coast, and the industrial carbon tax, pipelines are not getting built. Mines are not getting built. Nothing is getting built in Canada because of these Liberal anti-development laws and taxes. The solution that would fix all of these issues is clear. It is for the Liberals to get out of the way. Let Canadians build. Let farmers farm. Let producers produce. Let Canada be what it used to be: an energy superpower, independent and sovereign.”

We have so much land here for farmers to grow and for processors, for us to be able to do anything and everything we want. There is one problem, and that is the Liberal government getting in the way. “Whatever deficit Justin Trudeau left, the Prime Minister said he would double it, and in fact he did. What does that do? It makes everything a lot more expensive. They do not focus on the problem that this creates. They create a problem, which, in this case, is food inflation, and then give Canadians their own money, either through printing more money or borrowing more, just to give them what my community calls a lollipop, so they can look like they are actually fixing the problem. However, the real problem is the cost of food. How can the government say we are going to have the fastest-growing economy in the G7 and not do anything? In fact, GDP per capita flatlined all of last year, and the Bank of Canada is saying the growth in Canada will basically flatline next year, too.”
“Mr. Speaker, we all remember when the finance minister made a grand show in 2023, right before Thanksgiving. He said he was going to pull up his pants, roll up his sleeves, call the five major grocery store CEOs, tell them what was on his mind and make sure that grocery prices came down. He put on this grand show. Then the grocery store CEOs came and went. What happened after that? It is almost two years since he did that and now Canadians have the highest food inflation in the G7. In fact, it is one of the reasons why 2.2 million Canadians are going to food banks, a third of which are children. Liberals liberalled, and Liberal math created this problem. They created inflationary deficits. If we can believe it, the Prime Minister is a worse money manager than Justin Trudeau was.”

I have a simple question for the minister: How much will grocery prices go down after this benefit is adopted?”

The Prime Minister cannot blame global factors either when all other G7 nations have lower food inflation than Canada does. Liberals raised taxes on farmers, fertilizer and food processors, all while doubling the deficit. Will the Liberals reverse these failed policies, or is having the highest food inflation in the G7 the only Liberal promise they are willing to keep?”
“Mr. Speaker, Canada is first in the G7 for food inflation. Canada's food inflation has doubled the U.S.'s inflation at 6.2%. Essentials like lettuce, beef, baby formula and apples have all been hit with Liberal inflation. Conservatives will fast-track any proposal that would reverse having the highest food inflation in the G7. That includes eliminating the industrial carbon tax and Liberal fuel standards, cutting red tape and boosting competition. Will the Liberals introduce this immediately?”
“Mr. Speaker, before telling Canadians to judge him by grocery prices, the Prime Minister should have removed hidden food taxes like the industrial carbon tax, the Liberal fuel standard and the food packaging tax. The verdict is in, and it is very expensive. An average family of four will pay an extra $1,000 in grocery costs next year. In fact, weekly groceries have doubled under the Liberals from $160 a week to $340 a week. Do executives at Brookfield need to start lining up at food banks before the Prime Minister gives a damn about lowering food prices?”

He says that he supports a tanker ban, and then promises to override it. He is going to flip-flop on the pipeline until after the election, pretending he wants to build—”
“Mr. Speaker, the Liberals are talking out both sides of their mouths. The Prime Minister tells his “keep it in the ground” caucus there will be no pipeline. He tells Alberta that there will be one. He says he supports a tanker ban, but then promises to override it. He is going to flip-flop regarding the pipeline until after the election, pretending he wants to build one without ever offending his loony left Liberals. Will he stand up to his “keep it in the ground” caucus, get out of— Some hon. members: Oh, oh!”
“Mr. Speaker, the Prime Minister wants us to believe he disagrees with everything that he wrote about pipelines over the last 10 years. He supported the Liberals' cancelling a west-coast pipeline in 2016, in his 2021 committee testimony. The Liberals' tanker ban off the west coast makes a pipeline impossible. Will the Liberals admit they were wrong about pipelines and wrong about the tanker ban and vote for our motion to approve a pipe to the Pacific and remove the tanker ban, just like the Prime Minister promised Alberta in the MOU?”
“Madam Speaker, I was looking for that, and I found it: all the investments that supposedly have led to major jobs. The fact of the matter is that nothing this government has done has moved any needle forward. The member pointed to Stellantis, whose jobs left. Just today, there was news about a Calgary company that is shutting down altogether. The Prime Minister , during the election, said he had his elbows up and was the one who was going to deal with Trump. His elbows are missing, and now he is down on his knees begging for a deal, because he was not able to deliver on all the promises that he broke. That is just the same old Liberal government: It promises a lot but breaks every promise, and at the end of the day, it costs Canadians, costs Canadian jobs and costs our economy.”
“Madam Speaker, to address some of the things my Bloc colleague is asking about, we are always putting amendments forward because we want what is in the best interest of Canadians. This bill, obviously, in 600 pages, is going to slam $80 billion onto Canadians, but the interesting thing is that, at the committee it is supposed to go to, the finance committee, the Liberals are filibustering themselves, so nothing can get done. As usual, they put on this big show that the opposition is blocking everything, when it is they who are, especially in the last few weeks, cancelling their own committees and blocking their own committees. They are filibustering themselves because they do not want anything to be done. They know Canadians know that everything they have been doing is a trick, and Canadians have had it with this government.”
“Madam Speaker, that is a bit rich coming from the member, whose government is the most corrupt government in Canadian history. No one has had more ethics violations than the Liberal Party has had in the history of Canada's government. We will take absolutely no lessons from the member or his party, who over and over again work in the best interests of their rich, elitist buddies and not in the best interest of Canadians.”

“Many people left other countries to come here and were promised the Canadian dream, where one could work hard, get a good paycheque with low taxes on it, get a home and afford housing and groceries. Most of all, this country would be safe for them. When they got here, it turned into the Liberal nightmare this country has become after 10 years of failed Liberal policies. In fact, everyone I talked to said, “Why did we move here? It feels like a third world country.” That is what we are hearing across this country, because that is what the Liberals have turned Canada into. They want to trick Canadians into believing that this budget, their 10th, in fact, will somehow fix all the problems they created over the last 10 years. The last nine budgets put Canadians in this position, and somehow the 10th one is supposed to fix everything.”
“Then the current Prime Minister came along and broke the record. He doubled Justin Trudeau's deficit. This means higher costs on everything Canadians buy. It is why we are hearing stories of people wanting to leave. This country has become unaffordable and unsafe for all. There is no future. Youth are doing everything they are supposed to do. They are working hard, going to school and trying to pick up a job or two, yet they cannot afford a home, leave their parents' basements or even find a job in their field after they graduate, because the government has chased away so much investment from Canada. I was in the GTA this weekend. It was unbelievable how many stories we heard, at event after event, meeting after meeting and round table after round table, about how Canadians feel this is not Canada anymore.”
“Their “keep it in the ground” caucus was unleashed to tell Canadians and all the eco-radicals that there would be no pipeline. In fact, the member for Victoria admitted in a video that the MOU does not mean there is a project, a proponent or a pipeline. He spoke the truth we already knew from before. (1245) What does that mean? It means more investment is going to flee from here. Under the Liberals, $600 billion has already left Canada in jobs, equipment and investment. Under the Prime Minister , $60 billion has already gone to the U.S. The Liberals have created an environment in Canada that is uninvestable, and jobs are fleeing just as fast. That is why Canadians are struggling. This budget doubled Justin Trudeau's deficit, believe it or not. No one thought anyone was as expensive as Justin Trudeau.”
“After 10 years of failed soft-on-crime policies, the Liberals want to trick Canadians into believing that they are going to take this issue seriously, when they are the ones who caused the problem in the first place. Does anyone really believe that the most anti-development, anti-resource government in Canadian history actually wants to get a pipeline built? They do what they always do. They create confusion among Canadians because they know it keeps Canadians divided. That is what they do to try to keep power. They want to keep all Canadians divided as much as possible. The Liberals' own caucus is divided. They signed a piece of paper, an MOU. They made a grandstand out of it. “We got this paper signed.” Then they did what they always do.”
“We would know there was a party at someone's house because everyone's bikes would be outside, on the lawn. Now people lock up their bikes, and these still get stolen. They lock their cars, and these still get stolen. Break-ins are up. This country, under the Liberal government, has become lawless, but the Liberals want it that way. Any time the Liberals introduce any legislation in the House, Canada becomes weaker, more unaffordable and more unsafe. That is why it is hard to support anything the Liberals do. It is simple, and the stats speak for themselves. Violent crime is up 54% in this country; it was down 34% under the Conservative government. Extortion, which has rocked the South Asian community, is up 330%. Gun crime is up 130% in this country.”
“The Liberals are creating a fourth bureaucracy when the first three cost them $89 billion, the result of which is doubled housing costs, doubled rents, doubled mortgages and housing starts that are going down year after year. This is the record of the government. One of the most pressing issues in this country is crime because of soft-on-crime policies under the Liberal government. They have given more rights to criminals than to victims. When they implemented Bill C-5 and Bill C-75 , the Liberals made getting bail easier and reduced sentencing. Now Canadians live in fear. I never thought, when I moved to this country, that we would live in a country where people would be scared to be in their house, be in their cars or drop off their kids. There used to be a time in this country when we could leave our doors unlocked.”
“To those 2.2 million Canadians visiting a food bank every single month because of failed Liberal policies, this budget says, “Here is another $5,400.” For struggling families, because of the industrial carbon tax the Liberals want to increase, it means $1,000 extra for groceries this year and next year. Paycheques are not as strong as they used to be because of the government's failed policies. That does not help young Canadians get into housing. As the government, the Liberals are spending more on bureaucracy, which means they block housing. In this budget, it is clear to those young Canadians who have given up on the dream of home ownership that it is even more impossible for them to get a home and that they will be stuck in their parents' basements.”
“Madam Speaker, I want to congratulate the colleague who spoke before me on a great speech. I wonder why he does not speak more in the House. Nonetheless, I congratulate him on a great speech. We thought Justin Trudeau ran things like Fidel Castro, but the current Prime Minister said, “Hold my champagne.” When Canadians scream that there is no democracy happening under the Liberals, the Prime Minister says, “Who cares?” The Liberals are now trying to ram a 630-plus page budget implementation act through the House without the proper scrutiny, without the proper consultations and without any type of accountability or transparency. They want the opposition to give them free rein on this massive spend, putting each Canadian household a further $5,400 in debt, when Canadians are already struggling.”
“Mr. Speaker, the member for Brampton West touched upon something that I know he is very passionate about, and that is the issue of extortion. Under the Liberal government's soft-on-crime policies, the rate of extortion has exploded 330%. It is because criminals today have more rights than the victims do because of those soft-on-crime policies. I wonder if the member could describe a bit more what Brampton residents are saying about the soft-on-crime Liberal policies and extortions.”
“Mr. Speaker, the difference is that Conservatives will build pipelines while the Liberals build pipe dreams. That answer is as fake as when the Prime Minister said he was working for the best interests of Canadians and not Brookfield. Entropy is a carbon capture company getting massive Canadian handouts. Its biggest investor is Brookfield. The Prime Minister is more worried about making big bucks for his Brookfield buddies and building pipe dreams. Starving Canadians want to know, how much are the Prime Minister and his Brookfield buddies getting bankrolled by Canadians instead of getting a pipeline built?”
“Mr. Speaker, the leave-it-in-the-ground Liberals outed themselves, admitting their fake announcement last week was not a pipeline approval. The eco-radical Liberal member for Victoria admitted there is no route, there is no project and there is no proponent, which means no pipeline. Who needs pipeline opponents when we have Liberal caucus members like that? The Prime Minister is fuelling confusion to divide Canadians, all while talking out of both sides of his mouth. To the Prime Minister , when will shovels be in the ground? We just need the year.”
“Mr. Speaker, with the amount of hot air coming out of that member's mouth, I am surprised the Liberals have not slapped a carbon tax on it. That answer was as fake as the Prime Minister 's promises. Tomorrow, he will make this grand show and pretend that he wants to get a pipeline built, but he will hide behind someone else and get them to cancel it so that he does not have to do it himself. The only person who can get this pipeline approved is the Prime Minister . Does the pipeline need to be sponsored by Brookfield so that it actually gets built?”
“Mr. Speaker, the Prime Minister is all set to stage a fake pipeline photo op. What he will probably do is hand the veto power to kill that pipeline to the B.C. premier so that he does not have to do it himself. Subsection 92(10) of the Constitution says that the federal government has the sole power to approve inter-provincial projects and get shovels in the ground. The only person blocking the pipeline today is the Prime Minister . Will he stand up today and commit to repealing the tanker ban, axing the industrial carbon tax and actually getting this oil pipeline built?”
“Mr. Speaker, I was crunching some numbers and saw that the Liberals committed more than $89 billion to housing, yet housing costs have doubled. They have already created three bureaucracies, which have helped lead to young Canadians not being able to afford a home and losing the dream of home ownership. They are now creating a fourth bureaucracy. Can my colleague please elaborate on the lunacy of this fourth bureaucracy and the lunacy of the Liberals' housing plan in general?”
“Mr. Speaker, the CRA is a mess under that guy, and he is trying out to be a comedian in here. The budget watchdog exposed the Liberals' shady accounting tricks. He said that the Liberals have a less than 8% chance of meeting their own fiscal targets, which they made up while trying to hide $100 billion under so-called investments. The Prime Minister tried this trick in the U.K. He is trying the same trick on Canadians. Instead of cooking the books to hide his $100-billion ego, why does he not just rein in his out-of-control, costly credit card spending?”
“Mr. Speaker, the Prime Minister 's costly credit card budget puts today's reckless spending on tomorrow's taxpayers. He is maxing out Canada's credit card. Watchdogs are exposing the Liberals' accounting tricks. Fitch and the budget watchdog say that Canada's credit score is at risk because the Liberals always break their own made-up fiscal targets. How many more fiscal watchdog reports is it going to take for the Prime Minister to finally rein in his costly credit card spending?”
“Instead of avoiding questions as he helped Brookfield avoid taxes, the Prime Minister needs to come clean. Is he here to serve Canadians or Brookfield and himself?”
“Mr. Speaker, the Prime Minister dropped the most expensive budget in Canadian history outside COVID, doubling Trudeau's deficits. Canadians know what that means: higher taxes, slower growth and a debt sentence for future generations. As hard-working Canadians continue to pay the price, Canada's two-tier tax system benefits companies like Brookfield. At the finance committee, witnesses exposed Brookfield as being the most notorious tax avoider in Canada. As chair of Brookfield, the Prime Minister helped the company avoid $6.5 billion in Canadian taxes through offshore tax havens, including two registered above a Bermuda bike shop and another in the Cayman Islands. While young Canadians are told to make more sacrifices, the Prime Minister is doubling Trudeau's deficit. He and his elitist buddies are shielding themselves from CRA.”
“Mr. Speaker, the Prime Minister is avoiding the question like he helped Brookfield avoid taxes. When he imposes higher taxes on Canadians, they have a right to know if the Prime Minister still has money in offshore tax havens. I will give him one more chance. Will the Prime Minister stand up on his own two feet and tell Canadians exactly how much money he has stashed away in offshore tax havens, just the number?”
“Mr. Speaker, the Prime Minister's $80-billion deficit will cost each Canadian household $5,400 while avoiding the tax pain he imposes on Canadians. This is coming from the guy who set up $30 billion in offshore tax havens for Brookfield when he was the chair. He continues to dodge questions on how much he personally has stashed away offshore while avoiding the taxes he imposes on Canadians. Will the Prime Minister stand up today and tell Canadians how much money he has in offshore tax havens, just the number?”

It is the incompetent Liberal government that has ended up spending more than any other government before it and has given Canadians an inflationary crisis, which has led to the most rapid interest rate hikes in Canadian history. What do we see today? We see more Canadians lined up at food banks than ever before. There are 2.2 million Canadians, 700,000 of whom are children.”
