“Mr. Speaker, the Liberals promised to fix Canada's immigration system and broke that promise. Up to 500,000 people have overstayed their visas in Canada. Canadians cannot find work, health care is overwhelmed, housing is out of reach and crime rates are soaring because of the Liberals' reckless policies. The Liberals continue to maintain high levels of immigration and will not even remove those who are non-citizen criminals convicted of serious crimes. The Liberals had all summer to find these non-citizen criminals and remove them. Why did they not?”
“Mr. Speaker, extortion is up 357%. Earlier this week, an Abbotsford man was gunned down because of extortion. Following his death, there was another extortion-related shooting in the area. Yesterday, in B.C.'s Lower Mainland, another home was shot at. Thankfully, this time no one was injured. Every neighbourhood is terrified and innocent lives are on the line. The Liberals eliminated mandatory minimums for extortion with a firearm. How many more lives must be taken by extortion before the Liberals put a minimum sentence back on extortion?”

This mandate would push the very people who can afford it the least. The Liberals want to force top-down decisions, take away choices from hard-working Canadians and call it “green” while ignoring the damaging impacts. It is time to bring some common sense back to the government. No one should be told what kind of car they need to drive. Conservatives, especially, will not force Canadians to buy a vehicle they do not want, cannot afford and cannot count on. It is not just Conservatives raising concerns. Even former Liberal MPs are pushing back on the new government's electric vehicle mandate.”

“It will prop up monopolies, kneecap working Canadians and hand more power to the Liberals while pretending to save the planet. It will not just make cars more unaffordable. It will drive prices through the roof, shut down auto plants and send thousands of Canadian jobs straight to the U.S. economy. A study in the Canadian Journal of Economics found that this mandate will eliminate 38,000 Canadian auto sector jobs and cost our economy up to $138.7 billion. However, it is not just the auto sector that is at risk. It is the everyday Canadians who work in rural areas and rely on trucks, long commutes and reliable vehicles just to get to work. This mandate hits the very people who keep our resource industry running, like forestry, fishing, mining, and oil and gas. They will be the ones who will end up paying the price.”
“To make matters worse, the government continually blocks pipelines and energy projects across the country to line the pockets of foreign dictators. Why can it not admit that exporting foreign oil emits more carbon emissions than using clean Canadian energy? It would be far more affordable for Canadians if the government focused on developing our own natural resources. It should let Canadians work in pipeline and LNG programs, let them drive Canadian-made vehicles and let them heat their homes and start their cars with Canadian energy. Instead, the government is restricting consumer choice, driving up costs and punishing working families with policies like prioritizing ideology over affordability. This is not a climate plan; this is a control plan, a Trojan Horse for a top-down mandate dressed up in green buzzwords.”
“In fact, in some areas, like my community, there is no facility to safely recycle the batteries that EVs use. According to the Canadian Automobile Association, electric vehicles can lose up to 40% of their battery life in weather from -7°C to -15°C. For northern British Columbians, starting an electric vehicle in winter is basically impossible. Should this mandate stop families from taking their kids to school or hockey practice? What is the government doing? Do the Liberals think that BC Hydro, Ontario hydro and Hydro-Québec are ready to charge tens of millions of EVs every night, all while keeping up with the growing residential and industrial demands? I will answer that. They are simply not ready for that.”
“Tonight, I want to cover three things: how the bill is in fact not sustainable or environmentally friendly; how it makes life in Canada even more unaffordable; and lastly, how this is classic Liberal lying and, ultimately, another broken promise. Starting next year, the Liberals will be rolling out a zero-emission vehicle mandate that will become more extreme over the years. By 2026, automakers and importers will be forced to ensure that 20% of their vehicle sales are zero-emission. That target jumps to 60% by 2030 and 100% by 2035. Within just a decade, sales of gas-powered vehicles will be banned entirely. While the Liberals lecture the rest of Canadians from their elitist circles, they seem to forget that Canadians do not like what they have done and that EVs simply do not work everywhere.”

I am rising today on this motion because I will not stand here and let the “new” government deceive Canadians any longer. This so-called plan props up monopolies and makes life more unaffordable for Canadians under the guise of saving carbon emissions. This ban on gas-powered vehicles is exactly that. I must call out the Liberal hypocrisy. The government has not met even one of its environmental targets in this last decade, yet it has the nerve to keep imposing its unaffordable, ineffective climate agenda on Canadians.”

“Mr. Speaker, I rise today to share my condolences for the family and the victim of the fatal shooting in the Fleetwood neighbourhood in B.C. this weekend. The victim, Satwinder Sharma, was a father and a businessman from Abbotsford, British Columbia. What is even more appalling is that within less than 24 hours of Sharma's untimely death, another Surrey home and business, Reflections banquet hall, was targeted, and the owner, Satish Kumar, was shot at. Thankfully there were no casualties. I am speaking on the issue because it is suspected that both shootings were linked to extortion. My thoughts and prayers are with the Sharma family. There were two shootings in 24 hours and one horrific casualty.”
“Mr. Chair, the minister failed to answer because the answer is zero. The Liberals failed to deliver any. Under the federal lands initiative, 4,000 units were to be built by 2028. It has been seven years and the government has only built 309. How does the government plan on building the remaining 3,691 units when it takes seven years to build 309 units?”
“Mr. Chair, we can clearly see here that the minister cannot answer any questions. This is another failed Liberal broken promise. I will move on to my next question. Ottawa has the most federal buildings in the country. However, the Liberal MP for Ottawa Centre stated that this program is not moving fast enough. If the minister's own colleague is criticizing this program, why would Canadians not criticize it? Does he have an answer for that?”
“Mr. Chair, while the member opposite is not the Minister of Housing, tonight we are rising to speak on the issue of government spending, and this also falls under the 2024 budget. Could you please answer the question?”

“Mr. Speaker, Canada had a balanced, effective immigration system. It worked for newcomers, Canadians and our country. However, after 10 years of the Liberal government, the system is in chaos. Liberals ignored warnings, cut corners on application vetting, and opened doors for fraud and abuse in the temporary foreign worker, refugee and international student programs. Now over a million people are here with expired visas or expiring visas, and there is still no plan to address it. Canada now has the highest population growth in the G7, and the OECD confirms that the high immigration is straining our housing, our jobs and our health care. Despite this, the Liberals issued 180,000 temporary foreign worker permits this year alone, a 10% increase from last quarter. This is not sustainable. Canadians know it.”
“Madam Speaker, there is real concern within my constituency and my community, as we see that young families are not able to make ends meet; they are struggling. This was not the same situation 15 years ago. We need a plan. We need a budget, not false Liberal ideas. They are ideas, dreams that are out of reach. We need to make sure that we hold the government to account and come up with fiscal responsibility.”

After the election, we expected details, not empty talk. Canadians deserve to know how the government will build homes that people can actually afford. What will it do to ease the tax burdens on families, workers and small businesses? How will it support our armed forces, from our new recruits to our veterans? What funding are the RCMP and border security going to get? How will repeat violent offenders be kept off of our streets? We do not need any more vague promises or any more empty words.”
“There are two border crossings that fall within my riding and serve as international trucking entryways. Protecting our border communities is my priority, especially given the lack of funding for our border security, our military and our national defence. Canadians deserve better. They deserve a government that puts victims first and takes real action to make sure that our communities are safe. “Criminals who are caught offending time and time again are being let go because of poor rationale and bad policy. I must hold the government to account. I must express my blatant disgust with Bill C-5 and Bill C-75 . These laws make it easier for repeat offenders to get bail and reduced mandatory jail time. Since these changes, violent crime has gone up over 50% in just 2024. Concerning gun crimes like extortion illustrate the combined effects of the catch-and-release sentencing and Canada's struggling borders. Public safety needs evidence-based policies and a justice system with integrity. Canadians are expecting their elected officials to put their safety first, uphold the rule of law and make decisions based on grounded facts, not ideology.”
“Our retirement communities deserve a safe place to live each day, share their wisdom with us and have nurturing environments. The truth is that Canada is struggling to maintain these warm ideals for our communities. When public safety fails, it endangers our families, our children and our elders. Tens of thousands of Canadians have lost their lives to opioid overdoses in less than a decade. Our citizens are struggling from this opioid crisis and deserve to come home drug-free. Despite the number of overdoses and rising deaths in my riding, the Liberal government insists on funding these drugs rather than supporting our loved ones. Furthermore, the data from Statistics Canada keeps getting worse. Firearms-related violent crime has risen over 25% nationally.”

The families and law enforcement I met during the election are frustrated with seeing offenders released quickly, only to reoffend. Last week in Vancouver, a man was charged with sexually assaulting a teenage girl while he was already on probation for sexual assault. Repeat violent offenders have it too easy from the Liberal government. Will the Prime Minister stop the crime, lock up the criminals and repeal Trudeau's Bill C-5 and Bill C-75 ?”
