“During the trial, Dominique confessed that he regularly crushed prescription sleeping pills and anti-anxiety medications into Giselle's meals or her favorite dessert. Raspberry ice cream, which he would bring to her in bed. The drugs caused Giselle to have frequent blackouts, insomnia, and bouts of amnesia. She suffered hair loss and also lost 22 pounds over the eight years. As Giselle's memory lapses continued, Caroline and her brothers became increasingly concerned that their mother was in the early stages of Alzheimer's disease. Despite several doctor visits and a brain scan, no cause was ever found to explain these episodes. No doctor or family member thought to test her blood for drugs. He actually had a formula that he would tell the other men about because he was also teaching them how to drug their wives.”
