1. “Mr. Perthes: It is a pleasure to brief the Security Council again on the situation in the Sudan. Since my most recent briefing, in May (see S/2021/495), there has been some progress in the Sudan’s transition, as well as continued setbacks and challenges. The violence in Darfur and the east of the country, the absence of justice and accountability and the difficult economic situation have continued to inflict hardship and suffering on the Sudanese population. The transitional Government has taken measures in an attempt to address those challenges and renew trust in the political transition.”
