China has paid much attention to the evolving situation in Libya. In the past two years all the parties in Libya have made great efforts to move the implementation of the Libyan Political Agreement forward, and some progress has been made. However, Libya is still facing a number of challenges, including a fragile security situation, continuing armed clashes and rampant terrorist activity. On the other hand, there are massive flows of migrants and refugees in the Mediterranean, a worsening problem of trafficking in persons and an increasingly complex global situation for refugees and migrants.”

The decision of the Group of Five for the Sahel (G-5 Sahel) to set up a joint force to deal with the region's problems has been approved by the African Union and reflects African countries' willingness to work together and contribute significantly to peace and security in Africa and around the world. Resolution 2359 (2017), which the Council adopted on 21 June, commended the G-5 Sahel countries' decision to establish a joint force, thereby demonstrating the support of the international community. In early July, the G-5 Sahel countries officially launched the implementation of the force.”

The Sudanese Government is dedicated to maintaining peace and stability, pushing forward the political process and promoting economic and social development. China welcomes all of those developments. The question of Darfur involves a host of factors - namely, political, security, development and humanitarian. As such, it requires integrated solution, of which the political process represents the basis. It is the key to the question of Darfur. Thanks to the mediation by the African Union High- Level Implementation Panel, a road-map agreement was signed by the Justice and Equality Movement, the Sudan Liberation Army/Minni Minawi and other armed groups.”

“The international community should also work jointly to take expeditious action to ease tensions so as to create conditions conducive to the implementation of humanitarian assistance and the promotion of a political settlement of the issue. In working to mitigate the humanitarian situation, we should not overlook the need to combat terrorism. Terrorists and terrorist organizations inside Syria are launching repeated attacks, gravely hampering humanitarian efforts.
