Obchodní diplomacie v následujícím století bude vyžadovat vzájemnou úctu. Kdybyste Číně, klíčovému obchodnímu partnerovi, přijeli popřát k výročí, tak byste tam třeba vyřešili i vepřové nebo elektroauta nebo třeba kriticky důležité léky. A třeba byste zlepšili vyjednávací postavení Evropské unie vůči Spojeným státům, takže byste na golfu nemuseli podepisovat nevyvážené dohody. V Číně má Evropa otevřeno. Je to průmyslová velmoc. Potřebuje, aby globální obchod fungoval. Nemáme žádný skutečný důvod ke konfliktu, zato spoustu možných synergií. Té spolupráci stačí jít naproti.”

“Paní předsedající, ve věci Gruzie bych rád vyzval k umírněnosti a k respektu. Gruzie zažila po rozpadu Sovětského svazu krach a rozklad sociálního státu. Po barevné revoluci za Saakašviliho dostali diktaturu a válku. Dnes za Gruzínského snu mají hospodářský růst, obnovující se zdravotní systém, investice z Číny a v neposlední řadě mír. Nelíbí se vám to? Nepřijde vám to dost? Tak to porovnejte s osudem Ukrajiny pod Zelenským. Evropský parlament nyní fakticky žádá po Gruzii převrat a zrušení voleb, jinak hrozí sankcemi, vízy a přerušením spolupráce. Jak by se vám líbilo, kdyby se takto vměšovaly třeba Spojené státy do toho, kdo je šéfkou Evropské komise? Tak proč to děláte Gruzii? A co jim vlastně nabízíte? Boj za západní zájmy do posledního Gruzínce?”
“Evropským členům NATO lze proto doporučit, aby se k agresi nepřipojovali ani nepřímo, například poskytnutím základen, neboť i to může být vyhodnoceno jako válečný akt, který není obranou a smlouva o NATO jeho důsledky nepokrývá. 3-0057-0000”
“Paní předsedající, ve světle současného dění si pojďme připomenout, co NATO není. Zaprvé, alianční smlouva není charita. Smyslem členství je snížit bezpečnostní rizika pro členy, ne je zvyšovat. Přijetí nového člena znamená pro každý členský stát přijetí vojenského závazku bránit jej. Pokud se vyhodnotí, že rozšíření NATO pouze zvýší riziko války se třetí zemí, může každý člen zcela legitimně rozšíření NATO vetovat. Počítejme s tím. Zadruhé, NATO je obranná aliance, ne nástroj imperialistické politiky. Pokud se některý člen NATO vojensky připojí k agresi Izraele proti Íránu a dočká se patřičné vojenské odpovědi, není to důvod k aktivaci článku 5.”
“Kdo místo nestranné kontroly využije kontrolní misi k sebepropagaci a urážkám členského státu, snižuje důstojnost Evropského parlamentu. Apeluji proto na to, aby napříště kontrolní mise vedli lidé zkušení v právu či auditu a bez politických vazeb vůči kontrolované zemi a kteří se umí chovat. 2-0296-0000”
“Paní předsedající, vláda práva a průhlednost financí patří k důležitým cílům Unie. Dohled nad nimi však nesmí být zneužíván k politickým útokům. Právě k tomu došlo při nedávné misi Výboru pro rozpočtovou kontrolu na Slovensko. Tuto misi navrhl a vedl kolega Zdechovský, poslanec EP končící české vlády nepřátelské k vládě slovenské. Dalším členem byl kolega Wiezik z Progresivného Slovenska. Polovinu čtyřčlenné delegace tak tvořily osoby zjevně podjaté. Kolega Zdechovský nemá žádné formální vzdělání v právu či auditu. Zato zneužil pozici šéfa mise k politické propagandě tím, že do médií prohlásil Slovensko za „banánovou republiku a nedůvěryhodný stát pro investory“. Tím urazil nejen slovenskou vládu, ale Slovensko jako celek.”
“A přitom jste zvolili předsedkyní Evropské komise Ursulu von der Leyenovou s plným vědomím její Pfizergate. Ta je teď po rozhodnutím Soudu tím biblickým trámem ve vašem oku. Vyzývám vás proto, vyjměte ten trám z oka svého a vyslovte s námi této Komisi nedůvěru nebo ve věcech transparentnosti mlčte navždy. 1-0357-0000”
“Pane předsedající, vážení kolegové, minule ve Štrasburku se Valérie Hayerová z Renew rozhodla útočit na poslance, kteří uctili miliony obětí nacismu položením květů k hrobu neznámého vojína. Použila k tomu vystoupení na plénu, na které nebylo možno odpovědět. Činím tak proto nyní. Za politické názory odpovídáme výhradně našim voličům, ne paní Hayerové ani frakci Renew. Jsme připraveni s vámi diskutovat, ale nebudete nám diktovat. Cesta proběhla v přísném souladu s pravidly tohoto Parlamentu a tvrdit opak je křivým obviněním. Evangelium praví „Proč vidíš třísku v oku svého bratra, ale trámu ve vlastním oku si nevšímáš? Pokrytče. Vytáhni nejdřív trám z vlastního oka a tehdy prohlédneš, abys vytáhl třísku z oka svého bratra.“ Křivě viníte opoziční politiky z vymyšlené korupce.”

“Paní předsedající, vážení kolegové, za vítězství nad nacismem položily své životy miliony spojeneckých vojáků. Bohužel zapomínáme na ty, kteří přinesli obětí nejvíce. Stydím se za kolegy, kteří tvrdí, že Československo osvobodili jen Američané. Řekli byste to matkám sovětských padlých při osvobození naší země? Řekli byste zbídačelým vězňům v Osvětimi, že příchodem sovětské armády nebyli osvobozeni, ale okupováni? Stydím se za svou vládu, že neuctí padlé z řad sovětské armády, a jsem rád, že tak za bývalé Československo učiní premiér Robert Fico, ač je za to ostouzen. Rozhodl jsem se proto, že i já zítra položím květy k hrobu Neznámého vojína v Moskvě. Činím tak ze tří důvodů. Zaprvé, z osobního přesvědčení, že na padlé se nezapomíná. Za druhé, z vůle mých voličů, kteří mají hrůzy nacismu stále v paměti. Zatřetí, z vůle po míru. Oslava 80.”
“První krok k nápravě je zjistit na základě tvrdých dat, co se v členských státech skutečně děje a co pacienti skutečně dostávají, a pak začít vymáhat pravidla a práva pacientů, která už dávno platí. Toto je nadstranický úkol a budu vděčný za jakoukoliv součinnost vážených kolegů i pana komisaře. 4-0025-0000”
“Pane předsedající, vážení kolegové, vážený pane komisaři, problémem pacientů se vzácnými onemocněními je dostupnost a úhrada léčby. Takzvaná transparenční směrnice měla zaručit, že o tom, které léky se uhradí, rozhodnou státy ve férovém procesu dle předem známých kritérií s možností soudního přezkumu. Česká republika si k tomu formálně zavedla úřední systém rozhodování, který je složitý jako egyptologie a zhruba stejně relevantní vůči tomu, co pacienti na konci dne dostanou. To v reálném světě záleží na neveřejných dohodách mezi farmaceutickým byznysem a plátci a na korupčních bonusech, které dávají farmaceutické firmy nemocnicím. Když se tito hráči nedomluví, pacienti lék prostě nedostanou. Můžou se soudit, ale bohužel než vyhrají, bývá často pozdě.”
“De Commissie en de lidstaten moeten meer humanitaire hulp bieden nu USAID is weggevallen. Vooral vrouwenorganisaties direct financieren, landen verantwoordelijk houden die het conflict in stand houden, grip krijgen op de herkomst van onze grondstoffen, vooral ook goud dat onze markt binnenkomt en sancties opleggen aan de personen die verantwoordelijk zijn voor deze vreselijke mensenrechtenschendingen. 3-0524-0000”
“– Voorzitter, de rijke geschiedenis van Sudan en de rijke bodem van Sudan vormen een schril contrast met de situatie van de Sudanezen zelf. Er valt in Sudan ook wat te halen, zoals goud. Ook voor ónze telefoons, voor ónze sieraden, voor ónze apparaten. Landen, bijvoorbeeld in het Midden-Oosten, maar óók in de Europese Unie, hebben baat bij de grondstoffen uit Sudan en blijven zo het conflict faciliteren en financieren. De Sudanese gemeenschap is daar het slachtoffer van. Miljoenen gevlucht, losgerukt van hun huis, tienduizenden vermoord. Vrouwen en kinderen worden seksueel misbruikt met als doel gemeenschappen te ontwrichten. Verkrachting als oorlogswapen. Het is de vierde keer in zes maanden dat we hier aandacht vragen voor Sudan en over de situatie in het land debatteren, nu met een resolutie.”
“So we have made this decision to retreat from an order of global solidarity and replace it with nothing. And now we're surprised that you find fragile states like Sudan, which is on the brink of starvation, which is so desperately impacted that the US Government in January declared a genocide. I often think, 'pity the soul that has forgotten how to shudder'; you might call it compassion fatigue. But somehow or other, this is the worst humanitarian crisis in the world. We have no policy that has addressed this. There has been no statement from the Commission about this collapse in overseas aid. “We're having it at a time when USAID has been decapitated by the US Government, when the UK has reduced its overseas aid from 0.7 % of GNI a few years ago down to 0.5 % and now to 0.3 %. But the reality is it's about 0.15 %, when you take account of funding that is applied for domestic migration management. The same is happening in the Netherlands, where they've halved their overseas aid, and they don't want to talk about gender equality anymore in the Netherlands. In Belgium, they reduced it by a quarter; in Sweden, in Switzerland, and now the German Government will probably do the same thing. So we can say a lot of fine words in this Chamber, in this Hemicycle – as we've done before – but what we've done is surrender soft power on an industrial scale, surrender influence, and power hates a vacuum.”

“In terms of quantity, Sudan is one of the major crises, and also in terms of cruelty – even sexual violence is used as a weapon of war in this crisis. Many among the most evil powers on our planet are present in Sudan, among others: Islamist terror, Islamist ideology and violence, as well as Putin's Russian forces who try to exploit the soil and to torture the population there as well. I thank Hilde Vautmans and the other co-negotiators on this file and I'm happy that we explicitly mention the World Food Programme in this file, which has rightly received the Nobel Peace Prize a few years ago. Three World Food Programme workers were killed some time ago in Sudan. And we can see that the funding of the World Food Programme today is the same as ten years ago, while the number of starving people is four times as much as that time.”

“We also noted positive developments on the human rights situation in Thailand, like the recently adopted Marriage Equality Act, which enshrines into law the equal recognition of relationships for same‑sex couples. The EU welcomes this step. Thailand became the first Southeast Asian country to recognise same‑sex unions. Thailand was also elected a member of the Human Rights Council for 2025 and 2026, and continues its efforts to ratify the core human rights instruments. In 2024, Thailand ratified the International Convention for the Protection of All Persons from Enforced Disappearances and started enforcing the Prevention and Suppression of Torture and Enforced Disappearance Act. The EU supports the universal principles of democracy and human rights everywhere in the world.”
“Failure to comply with the royal defamation legal framework was at the origin of the motion for the dissolution of the main opposition party. We hope that Thailand will refrain from imposing disproportionate sentences in the lese-majesty cases, especially on children and young people. On 27 February 2025, Thailand proceeded with the deportation of 40 Uyghur refugees to China. The EU deeply regrets the decision by the Thai Government, taken in violation of the principles of non-refoulement, as well as of Thailand's obligation under national and international law. It is detrimental to Thailand's international image. We have expressed our serious concerns directly to the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Bangkok.”
“Thailand is also an important partner in the region within the Association of Southeast Asian Nations, and multilaterally within the United Nations, where Thailand recently supported the EU‑sponsored resolution on a comprehensive, just and lasting peace in Ukraine. In 2023, Thailand successfully held parliamentarian elections, which resulted in a peaceful transfer of power to a new civilian government for the first time since the 2014 coup. It is important that the political space in Thailand remains open, and that restored political pluralism and fundamental freedoms are protected. Regarding the human rights right situation, while there has been some progress, challenges remain in some areas. Sedition and computer crime charges are used to limit free speech.”

“Mr President, dear colleagues, I had an opportunity to be a part of a European Parliament mission to Thailand, and we tried to build friendly relations, which we need because we are in danger of trade wars and Thailand is and can be a valuable partner to the European Union. Firstly, I see it as wrong to 'strongly condemn' somebody who should be our partner – and 'strongly condemn' is the wording of the declaration – in case we are not a court of law and we cannot assess what actually happens there. The position of Thailand is that the Uyghurs are safe. There are safeguards in China that are put in place. The opinions of our colleagues are different, but we should leave it to the court to resolve these things. Another issue is the critique of internal laws like the criminal lese-majesty law.”
“Paní předsedající, nedostatek základních léčiv je selháním hospodářské politiky Unie. Dříve jsme byli ve výrobě soběstační, dokonce jsme měli i státní zdravotnické zásobování, které mělo ty sklady, když se tady mluvilo o zásobách. Nyní jsme závislí na dovozu účinných látek z Asie, jehož přerušení by bylo fatální. Proto pragmaticky vyzývám osoby odpovědné za zahraniční politiku, aby se zdržely obchodních válek se státy, na nichž jsme v lécích závislí, což je zejména Čína. Za druhé, vyzývám k odstranění těch regulací, které brání obnově výroby základních léčiv v Evropě, jako tomu bývalo, abychom se závislosti na dovozu postupně zbavili. Za třetí, léčiva vnímejme jako strategickou komoditu důležitější než zbraně. Nedostatek antibiotik jsme měli v roce 2023 a vůbec to nebylo pěkné.”

“Exprezident Saakašvili byl v řádném procesu trestně odsouzen za zneužití moci. Nechť svůj trest vykoná. Důvod čtvrtý, politika, kterou rezoluce Gruzii vnucuje, by jí připravila podobný osud, jaký stihl Ukrajinu. Gruzie tu není proto, aby dělala pěšáka Západu v boji s Ruskem. Tímto se Gruzii omlouvám za pokus o destabilizaci ze strany Parlamentu. Přeji jí rozumnou vládu, mír a prosperitu.”
“Paní předsedající, vážení voliči, mám čtyři důvody, proč jsem dnes hlasoval proti rezoluci o Gruzii. Důvod první, Evropský parlament by se měl věnovat potížím Evropy, ne usnesením o cizích zemích. Je to neuctivé a neužitečné. Oni mají své problémy, my máme dost vlastních. Důvod druhý, kritika gruzínských voleb je dezinformace. Zásadní výhrady proti nim neměla ani mise OSCE, ani mise Evropského parlamentu. Gruzínci si jasně zvolili Gruzínský sen. Evropský parlament nemá žádnou pravomoc určovat, kdo bude v Gruzii premiérem či prezidentem. Důvod třetí, rezoluce vyzývá k puči a k financování nepokojů z peněz evropských občanů. Vyzývá, abychom se dopustili stejného zahraničního vměšování, které tady soustavně kritizujeme. Exprezidentce Zurabišviliové skončil mandát. Nechť odejde.”

Před třiceti lety se v mém rodném kraji za ochranu přírody demonstrovalo. Dnes, po únosu ekologie Gretami, vám tam za klimatickou agendu leda plivnout do piva, případně se vás zeptají: Kdy už to zrušíte jako Donald Trump? Světová zdravotnická organizace kdysi sdílela obdiv za vymýcení pravých neštovic, za boj proti tropickým nemocem, za dodávky léků do oblastí krizí. Vystoupit z ní by nenapadlo ani Donalda Trumpa. Vlastní voliči by mu to nedovolili. Po selháních a po politizaci v časech COVID-19 se to stalo. Jako člověk činný ve veřejném zdravotnictví jsem z toho smutný, ale nikoliv překvapený.”

It will be essential to bring Russia's unjust war to an end with a just peace in Ukraine, in line with the UN Charter and international law. Ukraine's sovereignty and security must be guaranteed. We will support Ukraine beyond the war and support its reform efforts and its European path. This is a priority for the Polish Presidency. “Paní předsedající, vážení kolegové, po zvolení Donalda Trumpa si řekněme na rovinu: bezpečnosti Evropy uškodí, pokud budeme sponzorovat americké zbrojaře a vést cizí války. Česká republika zaplatila stamiliardy za americké F-35 stíhačky, které svět neviděl, protože dodány nám budou možná za pět, možná za deset let a mezitím ještě zdraží. Na tohle se máme zadlužovat? Na tohle máme brát peníze z důchodů nebo ze zdravotnictví? Když už zbrojíme, tak prosím nakupujme alespoň v Evropě. Pokud jde o války, nemáme důvod bojovat cizí války, jako tu na Ukrajině, která začala převratem v roce 2014 podníceným miliardami ze Spojených států. Nebýt Britů, tak už tato válka byla dva roky ukončena. Nejlepším řešením z hlediska bezpečnosti Evropy je ukrajinská neutralita a obnova normálních vztahů. Toto je jediné dosažitelné řešení.”
