“Madam President, dear people of Europe, if you scroll through your feed today, you don't see a bank adviser in a stiff suit, you see content creators who have done more to get my generation interested in investing than any government brochure ever could. This is a massive win for democratisation of financial knowledge. But as we build this savings and investment union, we have to ensure the rules of the game are fair for everyone. I supported the Pereira report because financial literacy should not be a secret tip you stumble upon in a comment section. It should be a fundamental skill for every European. We are not here to fight the digital world, we are here to master it. We need a framework that provides clarity and transparency without crushing the innovation of the creators who make finance accessible.”
“The fund is established under the United Nations and abides to the United Nations' rules of transparency. Now is the time for ambition, determination and commitment, and, most of all, concrete action that secures a sustainable future for our planet. “In my introduction, I named what the Commission is doing, but we need to remember that the Cali Fund is a global instrument, not another Commission fund. As a member of both the steering committee and the Friends of the Cali Fund, we will continue to facilitate dialogue between all the relevant actors to reduce the administrative burden and provide companies with the legal clarity they need to contribute confidentially. Finally, let me recall that the decision adopted by the conference of the parties of the Convention on Biological Diversity is, by nature, not legally binding and does not establish any tax. “Fostering historical awareness is vital for reducing prejudice. It is vital for addressing language, narratives and prejudices that have no place in a Union for values that leaves no one behind. I wish to end on a positive note – by nature I'm an optimist. While there is a serious distance that we need to cover, what we see is that there are steps being taken, steps taken also by the Commission – we have the Anti-Racism Strategy. Let me conclude by noting that one of the important topics that was recently discussed during Roma Week concerned transitional justice. The past shapes the present and in that also shapes the future, and bringing the truth about Roma history to light is a vital part of the ongoing process to promote Roma inclusion, equality and fundamental rights. In this spirit, the Council has already called for efforts to promote equality, including through measures to promote awareness of Roma culture, language and history. This also involves respecting the memory of the Roma Holocaust and pursuing reconciliation processes in society.”

So sehr ich mich Ihrer Interpretation der Geschäftsordnung auf den Redebeitrag des Kollegen João Oliveira auch anschließe, es war in der Tat keine Bemerkung zur Anwendung der Geschäftsordnung. So hätte nach seinem Antrag auf eine Bemerkung zur Anwendung der Geschäftsordnung diese unmittelbar stattfinden müssen. “Madam President, dear people of Europe, a few weeks ago, I sat in a strategy meeting and a brilliant assistant, Schiller, told me there is a difference between strategies, projects and instruments. An instrument, that is our immediate response: relief for consumers and businesses facing high energy and fertiliser prices. That is right, that is necessary, but this is just a band aid. A project, that would be more structured: a European crisis fund for fertilisers or faster permits for wind turbines while Putin holds us hostage. But the strategy must be long term. We need a European renewable energy industry, independent from geopolitics, independent from dictators. And the same applies to fertilisers. Why import when we can produce circular ones from waste here in Europe? And that is the strategy: independence, sovereignty, security.”

“Εδώ δεν χωρούν ούτε μικροπολιτικά παίγνια, ούτε εγωισμοί, ούτε αδιαλλαξίες. Εγκρίθηκε η έκθεσή μας από ευρύ φάσμα πολιτικής εκπροσώπησης από το EPP μέχρι την Αριστερά. Οι περιπτώσεις διαχωρισμού ψήφου ήταν πολύ λίγες. Για όλο αυτό το απαιτητικό κείμενο χρειάστηκε μόνο μία συνάντηση στοιχειωδών εισηγητών.”
“The court upheld that the law in question not only violated internal market legislation, but several fundamental rights set out in the Charter, but also Article 2 of the Treaty on European Union on the values on which the Union and the Member States are founded. And let me reassure you that the Commission remains fully committed to applying all the tools at our disposal to uphold our common values, including the rule of law. “The Commission also proposes a stronger link between the recommendations in the rule of law report and financial support for targeted reforms related to the rule of law. The Conditionality Regulation will continue to protect the entire budget from breaches of the rule of law principles. And finally, let me underline that the rule of law report is only one of the tools in the EU's rule of law toolbox, and only one element of the EU's broader efforts to promote and uphold our common values, including democracy and fundamental rights. That toolbox also includes the Commission's role to start infringement proceedings against Member States for breaches of EU law. And I would recall here again the recent ruling of the Court of Justice on Hungary's anti-LGBTIQ law.”

Regarding the anti-corruption framework, the Commission welcomes the Parliament's strong and consistent commitment to preventing and combating corruption in all its forms. The Commission fully shares this objective and we will continue building on our efforts, including via the rule of law report and also with an EU anti-corruption strategy, which will be presented in quarter four of this year. Looking ahead, respect for the rule of law is a central element of the Commission's proposal for the next multiannual financial framework. As you know, in its proposal, the Commission has reflected that compliance by Member States with the principles of the rule of law and the Charter of Fundamental Rights is a prerequisite for financial support.”

“Ci co tutaj mówili, zwracam się do was, których tutaj nie ma, ale być może odsłuchacie tę rozmowę. To jest wasza kompromitacja, bo nikt z was nie przeczytał tego dokumentu. Mówiliście o rzeczach, których w ogóle w tym dokumencie nie było. Naprawdę trzeba czytać ze zrozumieniem. Chyba to potraficie, skoro znaleźliście się w Parlamencie Europejskim. Chciałabym również powiedzieć wam, że każde przestępstwo seksualne musi być ścigane stanowczo i skutecznie, niezależnie od tego, kim jest sprawca i jakie ma pochodzenie. Ale jeśli rozmawiamy o tym, jak powinno wyglądać prawo, to musimy również opierać się na faktach, a nie na politycznych emocjach. Dane z Polski odnośnie cudzoziemców imigrantów, dane podane przez nasz rząd wskazują, że w 2024 roku na 1100 gwałtów 48 było gwałtami popełnionymi przez cudzoziemców.”
“Colleagues, some people claim that there are no legal grounds. Let me tell you that there are actually legal grounds: Article 83(1) in the Treaty. The EU crimes are there, and in the EU crimes, sexual exploitation is included. In the Council Framework Decision 2002/584, Article 2(2) lists 32 specific areas of offence. Rape is included in it. “Det vore lättare att kunna bedöma de här investeringarna om vi fick lite mer transparens, om till exempel Europeiska revisionsrätten kom in i bilden som ger oss i parlamentet oerhört viktig information om väldigt många andra institutioner. När det gäller Northvolt, det svenska företaget, så tog jag upp det just därför att det är i mitt hemland där detta misslyckande har skett.
